Hi there! I'm pretty new to all of this (been around forever just haven't seriously played until recently when I discovered everything I thought was unrefined in the game was redone, and done well) so if this is the wrong place for this and/or it's been answered please just send me a link to the thread or whatever in a PM...

Anyway... ever since this latest patch (Aug 30, 2011) my EQ2 is having some very serious problems that never existed before. I'll explain: When I start the game (using the launcher, and it is also the Streaming version...) the program everquest2.exe will start up usually with no problem BUT it will "hang" (not fully freeze because it will, eventually, continue to work) on a black screen for about 45 seconds first, then the loading bar labeled "caching appearances" appears in the bottom right corner but the loading bar wont move past 0% for several minutes (usually about 2-5 minutes the first time I run the game and then about 1-2min everytime after that). Also, once the bar DOES start to move (load) it does so very very slowly for that first, longest, load time.

The other error I have *sometimes* comes once it finally gets me into my character select screen and I pick a character and hit the "Play" button... the game will simply fade to black like it should but then it will freeze and the only way to shut it down is to use Task Manager and kill the process directly (if you try to kill the application it will never prompt you with a "program not responding" message and therefore dosen't autokill the process). Again this error dosen't always happen, only sometimes. The first error with the incredably slow game load-up happens every time I run the program however.

My system runs an older OS however it's a very solid system and I'm a freak when it comes to keeping anything and everything fully updated and running properly, plus I never had these problems before the Aug 30, 2011 patch/hotfix. Even one day before, the 29th, the game ran completely fine so I'm positive it's not a hardware issue. Perhaps theres some old cache file the game has that is corrupted or ... something that's corrupting the software itself? I've tried everything I can think of and searched the forum for these *particular* problems. Even though some people had similar problems the solutions they were given didn't work for me . If anyone can please help me it'd be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for your time and/or response!

Would you please post your DXDIAG information for me? Just the top 3 sections, system/display/sound devices (as much as will fit in a single response).
