View Full Version : Everquest2.exe crashes following GU61 update

I run my game as administrator. I have an install from the new and old streaming client, and one which I just downloaded from the new full download. All installs follow the same pattern, which I can watch in my task manager (Windows 7, Nvidia, Mcafee box), which is the Launchpad.exe loads and I can enter my login details. I get to the place where I can click play. I do so, and I see the launcher window disappear as usual, and I see everquest2.exe appear in my task list. A few seconds later it disappears and the game never loads. This is true for all of the installations I talked about above. I have removed/redone all of the firewall exceptions in Mcafee. In addition, starting everquest2.exe manually gives me the same G:live error that others are reporting.

If you had previously set the run as admin permissions for the LaunchPad prior to our update, make sure to reset it (uncheck, apply, recheck), and any exceptions made in security software have been removed and re-added.

I had the same issue on 3 different computers (no problems on the 4th computer...dont know why).

One of the 3 is running Windows 7, ran as admin and worked although there was a very long delay

The other two computers are running XP, what is the fix for XP?

None that I know of. I have been playing the game for while now and have gone through several updates and never had a problem.

assetdb.dll ? was that one fixed properly ?

I too have this issue, however I am able to work around it by enabling 'Run as Administrator', rather than disable it. I'm using 7 x64.

Same problem here too, same asset. Running the game as admin stalls when I hit play. Running it normally crashes.

Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: EverQuest2.exe Application Version: 1.0.0.1 Application Timestamp: 4e5543f0 Fault Module Name: assetdb.dll Fault Module Version: 1.1.0.0 Fault Module Timestamp: 4ddaaa54

ps: how do I use new launch pad without creating an entire new folder for the game?

Yes, please make sure you are running it as an admin by right-clicking the game icon and selecting Run as Admin.

What about for XP ... there is no run as admin...my account is setup with admin rights.

Both are running windows XP.

one crashes the second i enter the came and its not running the streaming client with 17GB taking up the on the HDD, the other crashes the second Everquest2.exe runs with and without the launcher launching it, this has the streaming client with 7GB taken.

both machines were then set to the most basic settings using the settings program in the EQ2 directory, no change. both are installed in the default directory at "C:Program FilesSony Online EntertainmentInstalled GamesEverQuest II Extended"

account is Freeport server.

non streaming computer is an Imac running xp PRO sp2 on bootcamp

streaming computer is a home built PC running windows xp PRO SP3, both have ran EQ2 for years without a problem.

Another one having this issue. It crashes after pressing play, as in all cases. Same error. I get the Everquest 2 logo with the green bar. It barely starts before the error stops it. Same error if I run launcher or it I start direct from everquest2.exe. Things I have tried:

Setting/resetting admin on launcher and everquest2.exe

Moving and reinstalling everquest2.exe

Setting and resetting all firewall settings for anything EQ2 related

Yelling

Hoping

Complaining to my sister who happened to be visiting

Can't tell that anything made any difference. The yelling seemed to have the most effect on my sanity. The hoping, the least. One thing that may be useful. Might be nothing. My internet is really kind of crap today, and the update actually went wonky at one point. The error where the timer keeps gaining time. Was up to a month or so more download time. I stopped it and restarted. It went fine after that, except for the nasty error stops. Just wondering if I have some corrupted data somewhere? But where to find it, if that is the case>

I too am crashing when I click play. I'm using the streaming client (I tried re-downloading it after the update, as I usually have to after every update.) I click play, the launchpad disappears, and I get a message "EQ Client Application has encountered a problem and needs to close..." etc. I have also tried clearing my cache with no success.
