the G drive is server side. This error indicates that you are probably using the Streaming LaunchPad and starting the Everquest2.exe file directly instead of the LaunchPad to patch. Please make sure you are using our LaunchPad to patch first.

Having a similar issue. At first after the patch It turned download button to play. I hit it, it then shut down launcher window. Now when I load the launcher, it looks normal except that the play button now states "Playing" and doesnt allow for any further interaction.

Sadly, admin mode doesn't fix the issue for me, but I've had to do a file-swapping workaround on Test for a few weeks, and have just started using the same workaround for the live client as well. (I'm part of the "no error message, hit play and then ... nada" crowd )

Glad I found this thread -- I've been having the same problem with Streaming (using MS XP) -- but I hope I understood Rothgar to say there will be a fix without necessitating a fresh download of the entire game. Doesn't seem reasonable to have to do that for a bug. Besides, there is a reason I installed Streaming in this particular computer... Thanks for staying in touch here, tho'.

Yep, it's an old XP machine, '02 Service Pack 3. The owner bought the rig for gaming and it still runs EQ2 quite well with limited lag or crash issues. Again, my connectivity makes a full download prohibitive. I started to do that for awhile last night but I did the math and found it would take several days to take the entire 12.4 gig at my current download rates. Is there no smaller chunk of software I can take to work around the game's bug?

If you delete that files, you should be deleting the files, that contain errors. For me that worked, because only asset.vdb and asset1.vdb seemedto be involved with streaming client. But it could be an issue that can causedifferent files to corrupt on different computers.People who have a running and an not working EQ2 installation, shouldcompare those installations. I believe that two identical installations shouldwork on each computer.

I hope Sony finds some "automatic" fix, before Joshi collabses from all the stress We should vote him for the most trying and caring SOE-member

Well, I downloaded the entire installation last night using the launcher. I am now able to run EQ2.

However, all my interface settings have been obliterated. All my carefully prepared sizing and location of boxes, buttons, and everything else, has been reset. The interface is in the extremely ugly non-alternate appearance mode and I do not remember how to get it back to alternate. Time to research. Time to waste hours reconfiguring all my controls.

Sony, this is simply awful customer service. To propagate a patch this corrupt and damaging shows a lack of care and respect for your subscribers. I can understand a bug that causes a minor problem and is then fixed with another patch, that's a normal part of software development. However, to release a patch that obliterates 1/3 of your user's ability to play the game, forces them to download and reinstall the game, and then destroys their carefully prepared game interface is worse than amateur.

Whoever is responsible for testing your software patches pre-distribution should have to pay for this bad will. Clearly this person is no longer qualified. I would like to hear from whoever is responsible. An apology would go a long way toward making me feel better. Even nicer would be some free game time to replace the hours I am now going to spend resetting every freaking control in the game. On top of that, I've got to go back through my entire AA point system and reset that (due to the new tradeskill point system). It is becoming a form of work just playing your game. I play a game to relax, not work.

If I hadn't been playing EQ for 11 years, I'd be gone in a flash! There are a lot more choice out there these days. Only loyalty to the EQ world keeps me here. Many others won't have that loyalty. You are damaging EQ!

Good thing I didn't camp in the guild hall last time I played. Otherwise, I wouldn't have had the pleasure of reconfiguring every freaking button in my EQ interface this morning. So this has worked for multiple users hopefully it helps anyone who wants to try.... 1) go to eq2players.com and download the full version of the game. 2) Install the full version of the game into a folder on your desktop(do not load the launcher after the basic install to the folder) should be roughly 10 ish files. the launchpad, uninstall and a few files. 3) copy and paste those files into your current Everquest II folder and run from the new launchpad. (replace everything that you get a pop up for) 4) Run a full file scan and it will download maybe 1.5 more gigs if you are coming from the old (disc based) launcher. Game ran perfect after that. Hope this helps, it was a shot in the dark for me and worked so i figured id shoot the info forward.

The streaming client relies upon information being passed on the command line (specifically, the cl_resource_address line that is commented out in eq2_default.ini). Without that information passed on the command line, the client does not know how to contact the streaming system and will be unable to load assets, hence the error message.

I'm currently going through the "pain" of downloading the full install in order to try and ascertain why that error is coming up for the full install.
Streaming client or Full client, EQ2X or EQ2Live?Full Client, EQ2Live Are you starting the game using the Launchpad, or starting the EXE directly (or through a shortcut)?Using game through the Launchpad Which OS are you using? (Windows 7 64-bit, Vista 32-bit, XP, etc)Windows 7 64-bit Are you running as an administrator?Yes Is UAC enabled? (on Win7 you can determine this by opening the Action Center (flag in the system tray on the right hand side of the task bar) and select 'Change User Account Control settings'. Don't change it, just tell me what it's set to).No, it's turned off What is the install directory of the client? This can be easily found if you're running the latest Launcher (not the original LaunchPad or Station Launcher) by logging in, pressing the Options button and pressing 'Open Game Folder.' May be: C:EverQuest II If you're more tech-savvy, please tell me if Everyone/Full Control is granted to the following files: EverQuest2.exe, assetslib.vpl (full install only), and the assetcache directory (streaming client only). If not, does the current user have Full Control?Full Control

Out of curiousity, is everyone that is having problems logged into test server recently? I noticed when I logged into test server it replaced my exe's in a completely different game directory. Had to recopy them from an older back up.

If you're running the streaming client, you have the assetcache files instead (which don't exist for the full install).

Please fix the full install. I do not want to run this streaming client!

Is there any way to increase brightness? Other than increasing Ambient Light to Maximum under Options. Even at Max it is still too dark.

This streaming client is too blasted dark. I process images on my computer and cannot afford to turn up the gamma on the entire computer just to play EQ2.

Ditto. 1 week and counting. I don't suppose SOE actually gives credits for down-times like this?
