EDIT: Ok, still not solved.

I have tried turning shader 3.0 off, and tried deleting ini files mentioned in other peoples questions about similar problems. Here's a screenshot. When standing in one spot, the disappearing armor comes and goes as I rotate the camera. This is very annoying, I would like to try this game again but obviously not like this GPU is a ATI HD 5870.

The 11.7, most recent I believe, version Catalyst drivers have been very succesful with other players and in our testing. Which were you using before and using now?

You may be using an older patch method of ours. Let's make sure that you are using our latest LaunchPad 3 for Everquest II. It comes in a streaming and full download version. I do recommend the full download version and installing it over your existing EQII game folder to avoid having to redownload any of the game files.

[EQII] LaunchPad

I have downloaded and been using the new patcher. I even completely deleted the old EQ2 folders. I redownloaded all 12.5 gigabytes. Could there be old files somewhere messing things up?

Would you mind opening a support ticket, referencing this post, and including your DXDIAG/MSINFO/and EQ2_recent.ini files? I want to go over your ingame options and a few other things as well.

I submitted a support ticket yesterday. Still waiting for a reply. I can't figure this out.

I may have found a fix. I had to use my catalyst control center settings. I was playing with that off when trying to figure this out thinking it would help. Certain settings from ccc made the game completely freeze, but after I changed things around I was able to play the rest of the morning with no problems. Just checked character selection screen and everything looks good still. Here is the number if you want to go through everything. Reference #110815-002049

I have the same problem - and the exact same graphics card. OP, would you mind posting what settings you changed in your Catalyst panel to get EQ2 to stop having those see-through graphics?

Ok, let me see. I have anti-aliasing at 4x and anisotropic filtering at 16x. It may not matter what level, mabye just having it ccc controled helps? Tesselation is off. And the rest of the settings on the 3D application settings I have set at the highest quality. I hope this helps. Triple Buffering I have enabled in game and not from catalyst, if that matters also.

Gonna try and give that a shot to reproduce it as well.

I didn't know what ccc was, and I didn't know what tesselation was. I didn't mess with any other settings in Catalyst. I also couldn't find the triple buffering option in-game to enable it.

So for me, making Catalyst do anti-aliasing x4, anisotropic filtering x 16 and setting in-game option to 4x sampling fixed that see-through problem I was having.

Thank you. ^^

Any chance one of you would be able to revert your settings 1 by 1 to find out exactly what it is? I'm leaning towards anisotropic filtering and I'm thinkin it has something to do with the negative lod bias/clamp, which takes a bit of extra steps to enable with ATI cards.

A funny thing happened. Well, not really funny.

After I did those initial changes and posted, the game was running beautiful. I've never seen the graphics in the game like that before and very smooth. Then I shut down the game and computer, came back later and the game was running very poorly. I couldn't hardly move the FPS was so bad. I checked my catalyst settings and they had all reverted back.

I spent the next several hours attempting to set it back to the way it was with no luck. EQ2 now runs so poorly, even in the lowest graphic settings, that it's now unplayable. I've done a system restore (didn't work for graphics card and game settings sadly) and I put everything back on default. Then I started slowly climbing back up graphic option by graphic option and the game is still very bad to play.

I have no idea what happened. =( I'm digging through old posts now to see if I can find similar instances.

Update:

Ok, after my little panic and unable to fix anything, as a last resort, I went to see if there were any new drivers for my graphics card out. Voila! One had been put out the day before. I downloaded it and it seemed to sort out my graphic's card problems and managed to get the game back to running "ok" prior to me messing with settings.

Today I went into the game and put on four-sampling and it stuck. I also traveled around in the game and logged into some characters that had outfits that had the glitch problem and there are no graphical glitches that I'm seeing at this point.

In conclusion (at least for my problem), getting the latest driver that came out on the 17th seemed to fix the in-game graphic glitch without me having to mess with my catalyst panel and settings.

That's very good information and I'll be reporting this up as well. Thank you very much for keeping us updated.

Hey Jushua... if he saves his settings it'll create an OPT file in the game directory. That can then be opened using notepad where the contents can be copied and pasted here for viewing. Easier to find out exact settings that way.
