Greetings Friends,

I would like to voice on this forum at home I would love to own a boat like in Ultima, and I believe an expansion involving lots of ocean, underwater treasure, sunken kingdoms, and little islands is needed. A watery expansion, after this expansion that is due to come out, I could imagine that an islands expansion will make this game nice and complete.

Imagine, you and your friends, roleplaying if thats your angle, On a ship that you have purchased, going across the ocean and lowering your anchor as you use your totem of the otter to go deep underwater to find a treasure chest that some map has led you to, Imagine stopping at islands and entering port as you and your friends begin exploring the island. Boats would be a great addition in the game I think

How about you?

Well i'm not going to say it's a bad idea, but we do have klethin or what ever it's called in ROK expansion. That turned out to be a big iskar statue with just his head pointing out of the water that looked like rocks.

I also think it's a bit piraty type of stuff and while I'm not against it I'm just not feeling it in eq2.

I have to say I think it would be awesome. IOn order fo rthat to work though we would need a seamless world, like Vanguard.

Perhaps the redesigning of freeport weill allow them to play with seamless zones, and then possible we can have an entire seamless world, allowing boats and ship travel.

No, thanks. Took a break from EQ2 to go check out WoW again and they've done pretty much what you're talking about in Thousand Needles--with boats and underwater adventuring--and it's fun for about thirty minutes or so (imo).

If the game was designed for it, such as Vanguard, I would say 'cool' (and even there there were issues). But in EQ2 invisible walls are everywhere. Additionally, in Vanguard, players would leave their boats spawned or dock it right on your boat...so annoying and lag?? Holy cow, it was crazy lag when there were multiple boats spawned.I don't think this is the game for player owned boats.

I'd push the things out to sea when they did that.

Our guild had one and we use to go on these cool rides to far away places. But there actually are far away places in VG, not so in EQ2. The novelty quickly wore off. They were so labor intensive to build it was a major grind, not so much fun. The major sea quests hadn't been put in when I left so there was nothing really to do with them other then cruise around.

Anyone remember when EQ2 first started and before you were tossed onto the newbie island, it picked up with your character on a ship being tossed around on the high, rough seas, then a dragon or something attacks the ship after a few starter quests? Then I think that's when your character ends up shipwrecked on the island. I was always sad they took that out! I loved watched the waves roll and how realistic it was. That was one of those "awe" moments in MMO's for me. =) I digress!

I think it would be neat, especially now that they have "smoothed" out the graphics issues where you needed a high-end computer to play, and even that was iffy!

Dark Age of Camelot used a pretty good system for Boats. Mind you, unless you were in the Trials of Atlantis expansion zone, there wasn't much under the water in most places, but you could own a boat and use it to sail around a lot of places. It made things easier getting around some of the borderland "hot spots" without getting killed.

And yes, I enjoyed the Isle of Refuge bit on EQ2 here. The Captain of the ship is still hanging out on the Isle of Mara docks and still has the dialogue text saying that 'you look familiar' and all that. They need to put the Isle of Refuge back in the game, but up the scale of items there to match places like Gorowyn and New Halas.
