Anyone play off a solid state drive? Was wondering if loading EQ2 on a SSD would boot performance and by how much.

Yes, yes, and by a lot depending on your cpu and graphics card.

I didn't see any real fps change with my upgrade to an ssd, but load times for the game and zoning is much better, and thats worth it to me.

The overall system performance of an ssd is worth it. Upgrade, you will not regret it.

The SSD will improve load times and prevent stuttering due to loading of textures as you move about. Thus more stable frame-rates. I will caution that the SSD are still fairly new tech and have a fairly high failure rate currently. If you have the money by all means go for it.

Was thinking a smaller one just to load EQ2 too. Still use my main drive to run the computer from.

If you have a Fry's Electronics near you, they usually go for about $140 or so...somewhere around there.

I recently made the change myself. I picked up two smaller SSDs, one for my OS and another for my installed programs. It has been working out incredibly well for me.

Will do.... Been 4+ years since my game rig got an overhaul. Although it runs fine I think i'm gonna hand it down to my daughter who also plays EQ2 and build me a new rig. Daddy needs a new PC!!

Thanks for the advice!
