After getting error 41780 on one of my accounts I thought I possibly had a local problem. After doing more testing I determined 4 of my accounts get that error BUT ONE WORKS GREAT... After contacting SOE support I was told then the issue would be escalated and someone would contact me soon. Well after 2 days and not even a automated response I decided I should probably start working on it myself. After 2 more days and still not even an automated response from SOE this is what I have learned.

1. Many people in China have had this error.2. I could find NO complaints of this error from any other country.3. SOE asks everyone to supply lots of data about their internet connection.4. After recieving the data SOE will pick something (not always the same thing) in the data to blame it on and close the case.5. This only effects accounts created after 10/2007.6. My case is slightly different because I actually have a working account (same computer, same network). SOE solution to my problem...ignore me...

After going to Fanfaire and sitting through a talk where they praised how good TS was now (which I believed) I find I am very disappointed.

If anyone has ever heard of a solution to this problem please let me know or if you know of someone at SOE that you can direct me to that will try to help, that would be great also...

Been around since eq1. thre are a number of discussions in the tech support connection forum on this

Search 41780 and you will find many pages of threads (most in chinese, surprise...)

Yes, you are right it is unique to China although I have seen several posts where SOE support denies it...

Yes, the SOE response is typically about VPN's causing the problem.

Let me be more clear on what is happenning in my situation...

I login to Account #1, everything works fine, play game for a few minutes...

I try to log in to Account #2 and get error 41780 when entering game from character select.

I try to log in to Account #3 and get error 41780 when entering game from character select.

I login to Account #1, everything works fine, play game for a few minutes...

I try to log in to Account #4 and get error 41780 when entering game from character select.

I try to log in to Account #5 and get error 41780 when entering game from character select.

I login to Account #1, everything works fine, play game for a few hours...

The working accounts are over 5 years olds, the other 4 accounts are less than 2 years old. SOE has never in any of the posts I have read admitted that it could be a creation date issue. SOE has never in any of the posts I have read admittted that could be a chinese issue.

There absolutely a difference between new accounts and old accounts. If SOE does not want to help people fix this error then they should just say that and not have people gather information for days (sometimes weeks) only to tell them..."MUST BE VPN ISSUE".

Its like buying a car in 2005 and in runs fine in the run...buy one in 2010 that does not run in the rain...

Company tells you problem is car won't run in the rain...what they should you is "We installed new sensor in 2008 to detect when it is raining and we disable the car because we feel it is unsafe"

DAY 5 and still no response from SOE...

Locking this thread as it is clearly not a general tech support issue.

As for your concerns feel free to PM me your incident number and/or Station Name and I'll dig in to the issue. I put the personal touch on everything I deal with

These forums are to discuss technical issues with one another and troubleshoot them. This is far outside of that definition.
