<p>Need to get the hubby a new lap top to take on a 3 month trip.  Might some of you out there have some sugestions on a good lap top that would be EQ2 playable from the hotel? We want to be able to spend as little as posible but still have it be useable <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> Thank you all in advance and sorry if this was the wrong forum <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></p>

<p>I don't mind threads like this here.   Unfortunately I'm a bit out of touch with the retail laptop market and your fellow players would probably be able to offer up much better suggestions than I can.</p>

<p>Here are a few laptops that should be able to run EQ2 acceptably (probably not be able to raid with high detail). I am not speaking on the overall reliability of the brand or model, just a feature set that should be acceptable for EQ2.</p><h1><span style="font-size: large;"><a href="http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834246094" target="_blank">lenovo IdeaPad Y560p</a> at Newegg.com $699</span></h1><p><span style="font-weight: bold; font-size: large;"><a href="http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834230089" target="_blank">ASUS A53 Series A53SV-XN1</a> at Newegg.com for $750</span></p><p><span style="font-size: 24px; font-weight: bold;"><span style="font-size: large;"><a href="http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=631879&CatId=3982" target="_blank">Acer AS5750G-6496 LX.RMX02.005</a> from</span> Tigerdirect.com for $689</span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;"><strong><a href="http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?oc=dndokq1&c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&model_id=xps-l702x" target="_blank">Dell XPS 17</a> from Dell.com for $899</strong></span></p><p><strong><span style="font-family: Arial, Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 20px;"><a href="http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopping/cto.do" target="_blank">dv4t series</a><span style="font-family: Arial, Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 20px;"> from HP.com $669</span></span></span></strong></p><p><span style="font-family: Verdana; line-height: 18px;"><strong><span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-size: large;"><a href="http://www.ibuypower.com/Store/Battalion_101_W251HPQ_Gaming_Laptop" target="_blank">Battalion 101 W251HPQ</a> from iBUYPOWER.com for $839</span></span></strong></span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;">There are other companies that sell gaming capable laptops as well. Whatever you buy, I would recommend at least a dual core CPU @ at least 1.8 GHZ (Intel 2nd gen Corei3, i5, or i7 OR AMD Phenom II X2, X3, X4, or X6), 4GB of ram, 250+GB hard drive, and Geforce 540m or Radeon 6550m or better dedicated graphics (not integrated graphics).</span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;"></span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;">As far as the CPU/Processor goes, stay away from anything that says ATOM, Celeron, Pentium, Duron/Sempron, AMD C30/C50, Neo, Neo X2, or any VIA processor. Also, don't get anything with a screen size smaller than 13". That would be a netbook, not a notebook/laptop. EQ2 is reletively CPU/Ram/Graphics demanding, and most laptops will struggle with it, if run it at all. For reference, I have tried to run it on a Dell Inspiron 1545 with a Pentium Dual Core 2.1GHZ cpu, 4GB ram, and Intel HD4500 graphics; and it will not load at all. It will play WoW at lower detail settings. As you can see, these laptops are not cheap. I doubt you will find anything acceptable under $550 or so.</span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;">One last thing. Many laptops have similar feature sets. The super cheap ones may run the same software as more expensive ones, but the build quality will suffer. Things like screen hinges, keyboards, or other parts will break or wear out MUCH sooner. Remember the phrase "Half the price, and twice the cost." You get what you pay for. Good luck.</span></p><p><span style="color: #c0c0c0;">Edited for formating.</span></p>

<p>I have a Dell XPS M1730 and it plays EQ2 very well. Its several years old but I can run Vent and even raid with Profit UI set to raid mode.</p>
