View Full Version : Tank and scout pets don't use their abilities!!!

<p>Looks like this is still a huge problem for conjurers and necros. The mage pet is okay, it uses its abilities.</p><p>The tank and scout pet almost never cast their abilities (extremely rare). The only ones that get used are the ones from AAs. It didn't used to be this way. For example, the tank pet has taunts, a root, etc...it used to use them whenever it could. Now it'll cast them like once every 10 minutes (literally). If we keep posting this hopefully they'll fix it. This is also why the scout pets damage is so bad, because it's bugged and not using it's abilities.</p><p>SOE: this is extremely easy to check, you can re-produce this easily. Something changed with the pet AI. I believe it was when you made the tank and scout pet skills spells and not combat arts. Please change the tank and scout pet to work like the mage pet and use their abilities. Otherwise, why have them at all--it's horribly broken at the moment. <img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></p>

But fighter pet needs to stick around, and just be improved.</p>

Why should they remove the pets? If they gave the scout and tank pets the AI from the mage pet they'd be fine. A simple copy/paste fix.

That's not a reason to remove the scout and tank pets from the endgame. The scout and mage pets should be fixed so that they are equal dps options...perhaps with each having some sort of group buff that would be more useful depending on whether it was a melee or caster heavy group...</p><p>The tank pet obviously shouldn't be removed since some summoners still play the game solo or in small groups where a tank pet is useful for handling the incoming damage instead of just trying to be t1 dps.</p>

<p>There was a mention in FanFaire 2009 (mechanics panel) of giving scout pets more survivability, and making them single-target dps while mage pets would be aoe dps. Obviously that hasn't happened yet, but I think it'd be a much better option than getting rid of the scout.</p><p>The fighter is vital to the soloing summoner, please don't get rid of them either!</p>

<p>yes, please fix these pets so they use their abilities.</p><p>pls do *not* remove the tank pet!!! don't care what you do to the scout pet. if you continue to refuse to fix the scout, then go ahead and remove the scout but leave the tank pet as part of the game. my necro would be lost without her giggly! as someone mentioned, the tank is vital to solo and very useful in smaller groups. could we remove the "ooze", though??</p><p><em>p.s. UNLOCK ROW ONE of SHADOWS TREE at LEVEL 10, you can keep the rest locked until 30 or 50.</em></p>

Enhancing a broken pet is like adding a turbo charger to a car without an engine. Until they fix the pet's ai, it doesn't matter what they do to enhance the pet otherwise. All the fancy gizmo's won't make a car without an engine any more useful.</p>

That's like saying someone with a broken arm should just have the arm amputated since the arm is broken, thus useless. When it's obvious the arm just needs to heal. Likewise, tank and scout pets need tweaked and fixed, not removed.</p><p>Or to put it another way, doesn't it make a LOT more sense to make each pet viable for at least certain situations, then to yank two of them and give summoners even less choices for pets?</p>

<p>We aren't helped by knee jerk posts like "just remove them"...</p><p>Here's the thing:</p><p>1. SOE clearly tried to make the scout pet worthwhile. They probably made it so that it's dps would be, decent, gave it a little utility, etc. And it likely would be. IF IT USED ITS ABILITIES. It's a bug!!!</p><p>If you go to a targetting dummy, posess minion the scout pet (with supporting AA's), and attack the dummy yourself and use it's abilities, guess what! It's dps doesn't quite match the mage pet, but it's not far away. When you send it in to attack (non-posessed) it doesn't use them and it's dps falls to like 1/5th of what it was. Literally.</p><p>2. The tank pet is useful already. However, we wouldnt' have all these aggro problems, issues with it holding aggro at all, IF IT WASN'T BUGGED. It didn't used to be like this, pre-SF or there abouts, it worked fine.</p><p>We need to get this fixed. I'm going to try to get everyone in the summoner channel to bug it every day until it is.</p>
