Thinking of playing from my laptop while at work using my DroidX hotspot. Anyone out there tried it? I'm sure there will be lag issues but mostly just wana T/S and take care of brokering/banking (the kind of stuff that takes up a good part of my time when I log in)

Anyone know how much Data is moved in say an hour of game time?

When I first started playing, I played on a Dell Inspirion Laptop using an ATT 3g air card with unlimited data....don't do it, don't reccomend it, it sucks. lol And unless you have an unlimited data plan on that air card or hot spot, you'll max it out in less than a day or two.

Thank goodness I have a gaming system now and highspeed internet and not a laptop!

Ya i'm all set at home. Just looking to play an 3 or 4 hours a week from work. I havent bought a laptop yet. Been keeping my eyes out for a decent system at a good price. I am headed overseas in Oct and will need my laptop for sure by then. Just trying to kill 2 birds with one stone.

While SOE does not support that connection method, I have seen it work for others but when I did raid on my tethered phone it was not pretty. If any other players have done so successfully let us know your experience.

LOL @Josh! Ya thats hard core to be raiding on a teather.... I can deal with lag since I will just be doing minor crafting and banking and char. maintance. What I'm really intrested in is the amount of data being moved. 4gigs is my limit per month. Guess I'll just have to try it and watch my data numbers to see if I can try and figure it out on my own!

To my guild members it looked like I ran off, got killed by the mob, then while dead started my Incoming in 10 call...

If you already have the game fully downloaded you shouldn't hit the 4GB limit a month just by standard play. Updates, expansions, and any local issues are where the allowance gets soaked up.

3G is fine for T/S and solo/grouping. You shouldn't have a problem with it. I use to do exactly what you are trying to do. I would go to lunch and play on my laptop and sprint aircard. The performance was aways good.

If I keep getting dropped by comcast I usually switch to it and never have a problem with grouping with the aircard.
