Hello,

I used to play EQ2 in 2007 quite a bit and now I'd like to come back, but I am really confused. I did try to download the EQ2E and there only was one server - Freeport, and I remember that I used to play on Runnyeye. Then I found out that there are two separate games - EverQuest 2 Live and EverQuest 2 Extended, so I have found out the DVD-ROM of my EQ2 base game + Kingdom of Sky expansion, and it looks like I have the old game finally, but I still have many questions.

1.) After launching the game, it wants me to login. Does it mean I will be charged for 15 dollars monthly fees? Today I leave to Greece and I wanted to play a bit before I leave, so I guess that I won't be able to play.

2.) Also I remember that I only own this Kingdom of Sky expansion on DVD-ROM, but I also bought the Echoes of Faydwer and Desert of Flames ones digitally. If I will pay for EQ2 Live monthly, will I use the Gold subscription and therefore will I get the remaining expansions for free, or do EQ2L and EQ2E have different subscriptions?

3.) Do people still play EQ2 Live or did everyone move to EQ2E? Specially on Runnyeye? I mostly solo, but sometimes I really need to interact with people.

4.) And if EQ2 Live is dead, is there any way to move my characters to EQ2E? With or without paying? And will my characters still remain on Runnyeye after so many years of not playing?

Sorry for so many questions, but i am really confused. Thanks for the answers beforehand.

They are entirely separate so you do have to have the proper subscription.

I play on Everfrost primarily and while it is a lower population server compared to others, it has ample people to interact with when I need to.

You pay $200 (USD) for a year's worth of game time which unlocks everything. It will include any expansions released during that time plus 500sc per month. This works out to $9.16 per month if you do the math on it.

If you ever stop paying for Gold or Platinum you still have access to your characters and can keep playing.Either side is good. It's really up to you. Just remember that Extended is a newer server and you have many more lower level groups.

Hello all,

today I came back from Greece. Thanks everyone for the answers.

So if I understand right, EverQuest 2 Live and Everquest 2 Extended are two games, what are completely same, but its's subscriptions differ. On Live you need to pay just to be able to play the game, but on Extended you'll get all the expansions if you pay for the Gold subscription. If I want to play on Live, I need to buy the missing expansions, however on Extended I need to move the characters if I want to play with them. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Now the question: How much does the transfering of each character cost?

I think I want to play on Extended, although the free 45 days of Live are tempting, but I do want to start playing from the beginning to get to know the game before I jump back to my old characters. The Extended should offer me the base of lower leveled players and the bigger community ahead of Bronze/Silver players.

I still don't know how long I'll stick with this game and 200 dollars are quite some money for me, so for now I am not really thinking about the Platinum subscription yet.

And the second question is: Which of the European and American Extended server (or servers, in Europe I have seen just one - Freeport) is more popular? If more people play on American, how can the longer connection express considereing I live in the Czech Republic?

Thanks beforehand again.

For Everquest II Extended. You do not get all of the expansions with a gold membership, only a Platinum membership. You are given access through Sentinel's Fate even if you are a free to play - player.

There is only one Extended server, Freeport.

For Everquest II Live. This is a monthly required subscription fee (but we do offer up to annual subscription plans), and you are given access through Sentinel's Fate just for subscribing but there is no subscription plan that gives you the latest expansion, it must be purchased separately. Anything you buy for Live is accessible in Extended so you wouldn't have to buy DOV for both.

You do have the option of transferring a Live character to Extended which costs a Character Copy Token from our Marketplace. If you transfer a restricted race or class, you will always maintain access to it even if you have not purchased the associated class/race pack to support it. However, you cannot then make a new character of a restricted class/race without purchasing the packs.

What seems to be a low population server might be a misconception. I resumed play back in january and thought the server I was on was dead for the first couple days, then I realized, it's pretty busy but there weren't that many people in the areas I was in at the time. Once I started playing the higher level characters again, I began to see a lot more people.

Also, you need to read very closely what you get to keep when you transfer a character. A lot of things are not going to go with them to another server.
