I'm led to believe this is the case. I'm new to this game and thought i'd test the game out for a month, so i purchased the gold membership. It would seem as i'm only allowed on one server which is Freeport. I heard they're other servers but i'm led to believe "live" subscription is platinum. Any one?

I forgot to mention, i was on Extended and then i went onto Everquest streaming. What put me off with streaming was the fact that it said 14 days left... I'm so confused. I believe i'm allowed on this server as i'm a live subscriber but then what about these 14 days left? >.<

There's two separate sets of servers in EQ2: Live and Extended. Extended, the Freeport server, is the free-to-play side of the game. The Live side, the majority of the servers, are the subscription-only side. What you're seeing with the 14-day thing is the free trial time on the Live side. To convert you need to a) purchase the game (get the game code from a retail box, buy from an on-line merchant like Direct2Drive who'll give you a code, or purchase directly from SOE through their on-line store which'll automatically flag your Station account for the game) and b) set up a subscription plan for the game on your Station account.

There aren't any differences in gameplay between the two. The primary differences are that on Live gameplay-related gear isn't available on the Marketplace and there aren't any restrictions on what content's available. You can't buy armor with stats on it for real money, the only stuff on the Marketplace is appearance-only. If you want armor, you have to have it crafted or get it through loot drops. If you want rares (to make Mastercrafted gear) you're going to have to either harvest them yourself or earn the gold in-game to buy them off the broker. There aren't any locked races or classes you need to purchase, they're all available with the subscription. There aren't any limitations on the quality of gear you can equip. You immediately have the maximum number of inventory and bank slots available.

Characters can't be transferred between Extended and Live. There's an option to take a character from Live and copy it over to Extended, but in the process the copy loses unattuned equipment, coin, bank contents etc.. You basically end up with the clothes on your back and the bags/boxes in your inventory slots and that's it. Of course since it's a copy, not a transfer, the character on Live's unaffected by this.

So now i do also need to purchase Everquest 2? That doesn't make sense. I thought i just needed to subscribe, which i've done.

You probably want the Destiny of Velious standard edition.
