Hi devs ..

I have two things. Firstly the internal browser in eq2. It is a known issue and after going through the optionals

described in some of the threads I ended up using the "turn off flash" solution. My issue with this is simply that

you have to fix this at a certain point. You are presenting Zam as a major information partner. They have access to

a live feed from the servers showing you broker status and other ingame database function but your own ingame

browser can not even show the site without crashing the client. It is frankly a bit embarrassing and very annoying

as well. I would assume this would be an easy fix if you gave someone a day to update the browser but I don't know

so perhaps you could comment on this. It simply just makes you guys look bad ( Don't get me wrong I truely believe EQ2

is the undesputed best MMO out there at the moment but this silly bug is like a slap in the face ) .

My second part is minor in comparison and is more like a question than a demand !

Why has the Launcher "update notes" section not been updated since April 19 ??

Yours

There is no update notes section in our supported LaunchPads. Update notes are posted to our forum game update section.

You are using our retail patcher that has since been updated/replaced.

As for the in-game browser, it has been reported and we're awaiting movement on that. I am not part of the development team and I simply offer tech support here. You might be better served asking the more general, business related, questions in General Discussion.

[EQII] LaunchPad

Not to beat a dead house, but this has been an issue for months. Not days, Months. This is nuts. I have a related question: Aside from the "no flash" thing, is there a hostfile type..... file that I can set it to block Zam? Sometimes I get in a hurry, and click a Zam link by accident.

We do apologize for the inconvenience this does undoubtedly cause. I will update you as soon as I have more information but I do not at this time.

I'm just bumping to state that I still have this issue as well. Please don't see this as nagging, just an update. It is mostly with Zam it seems. This happened with both the newest versions of the streaming client, and the newest of the 'standard" launcher, which I am using now and have been for roughly a month or so.

The only reason I can think that this hasn't been done is the forecast is so long, they would rather keep quiet?

For a part of the ui to be outright broken for so long is a bit of a joke really. It isn't just that it doesn't work, it actually crashes the game. What must new players think?

The true fix reqiures upgrading the version of Mozilla they use for the internal browser, and that's going to be a major bit of work given how much Mozilla's changed since the version they used. But since the problem's the incompatibility between the Mozilla version and the Launchpad-required version of Flash, and the in-game browser doesn't really need to support Flash at all for the purposes it's used for, short-term it's just a matter of changing the internal settings in Mozilla to skip checking the system plug-in paths and rebuilding the existing Mozilla version with that change. It may even be doable without a code change, I'll have to check the plugin.scan.plid.all setting's effect.

Edit: yes, flipping plugin.scan.plid.all to false disables finding of the Flash plugin (and all other system-installed plugins that don't have their own checks). That ought to be doable by a change to mozilla/greprefs/all.js without needing any code changes.

And since that's not compatible with the in-game browser, it locks up. And since it's just a matter of flipping one setting in a text config file to disable finding the system-installed Flash, it shouldn't take this long to at least get the short-term workaround in place.

As far as why the browser exists, that's because a) not everyone has a system with enough memory to run both the game and a browser at the same time without bogging down and b) many people run in full-screen mode and have stability and/or performance problems when windowing out and back in. In short, it's convenient for a lot of people to not need a regular browser open just to look up quest walkthroughs.

I am one of the unfortunate ones that has grown to rely on the in game browser. I hate not being in full screen and my bags and windows get thrown around the screen when I go windowed then back again. I also use it to display ACT so I hope they don't remove it!

In the "mozilla" folder, right-click on the background, select New and then Text Document. It'll create a new document, just type "user.js" to set it's name. It'll probably ask if you really want to change it's type, tell it Yes or OK. Right-click on user.js and select Edit. Copy the set of "pref(...)" lines from my post into the clipboard, go back to user.js and paste them in. Save and close.

To save a notepad file with a different extension you must change the box below the filename to All Files *.*, then you may type any filename.ext

Much as I hate to be the pessimist. This will never be fixed. I refuse to believe it is a very difficult fix so can only assume they don't really care. For some people (like me) the browser fix is a big issue and yet they don't have any interest at all in sorting it.

I just take it as read that I now have to switch to windowed if I want to browse anything.
Sorry everyone we do understand that browsing any site of your choosing is an expectation with any browser. I've reported the issue but the technical support department is not where the fix will be developed and pushed. I'm gonna lock this up as this no longer requires technical support.
