Well... I went and tour'd the new floating TT island and my honest (non-sarcastic) comment on it would be that I found it very underwhelming.

Let me say that I don't mean to imply anything bad about the designers. I mean... the waterfall is neat looking but omg is it boring. If it was, say, 1-2 small islands + the large one you come in on (and also assuming you ENABLED FLYING IN THAT HOUSE -- HINT HINT HINT!!!) I could maybe see it but atm all it looks like is someone's back lot with a pond and the ability to fall off the edges and get ported back to the entrance without harm.

No offense guys but I felt this was "a swing and a miss".

Decorators have long requested a large flat place to build their own house. It's probably not for everyone, but for those who have been breaking out and building their own structures this island is a dream house (because we can turn it into exactly that - our dream house).

Before multiple houses went in, all my alts were "born" as I developed different housing concepts and the personalities that would live there. Even with multiple houses, I'll probably still do that if I have ideas that don't fit with my main's character concept if other folks don't commission similar ideas from me, for their spaces.

I've paid for a couple prestige homes, I'll admit. The triple SC promotion was great, in that it allowed me to add a balance without going under; adding more SC is unlikely in the near-to-moderate future, at least. I think these new houses are pretty cool, and they definitely offer options not available through the usual city houses. (I like those too!) The thing is, I can imagine different deco for all of them, in many forms. There's no way that I'll drop the cash to get them all so that I can work with the spaces, so it all depends on whether someone who does is interested in my help with the layout.

I had planned for the Thurgadin Grand Hall to be my last purchase, but waited while I complete my current decoration projects. I'm glad I did. The Tenebrous Island will be my last SC home instead.

I'd really appreciate more quested, faction purchased, or looted prestige homes available through normal mechanisms in the game. Not only would this provide more options for people who don't have bottomless pockets, but it could be a great way to add flavor and interest to older zones. (The same could apply to leaping/gliding/flying mounts, by the way; they could just be made available to those who had already completed the primary quests to gain access to those mount types, much as the Velious collector's edition griffon worked.)

I think the prestige house portals are fun, too, especially as house items for linking houses together. One of the things I really liked about the Thurgadin house is that its main door actually ties into the zone its associated with.

Wouldn't it be fun to be able to acquire a residence in Grobb, with enough faction, and walk in the front door? Or to be able to loot a deed (preferably heirloom) for a retreat that's actually in the Silent City? [I'd just love a place in the residence court of the Living Tombs.] Pretty much any zone that's set up as a city, village, or other home for NPCs is ripe for housing. Private getaways off the beaten path in the world would work well too (a hidden cove off the Commonlands coast? a cave in the Pillars of Flame? an estate in Nektulos? a compound in the hill over Mara?). There are so many possibilities that could be dovetailed into the world and, as I said before, spice up older zones by tying the acquisition of those homes to adventuring or tradeskilling activities in the places they're from.

Without investing the development time in all the possible houses, SOE could add world drops of current prestige homes once they have been on the Marketplace for some time. People will still buy them, if they've the means and don't want to invest the time and effort in acquiring them through gameplay methods.

See this is what i mean, this is how many other games that use RL money for purchasing in game items work. Station Cash items in general should be in game and questable. For those people who dont want to take the time to do that , fine then use the quick and easy station store method.

I dont care how nice an item is, i pay for an account, i will never buy imaginary items with real money, the general account is more then suffecient to cover the cost for developing these items. If you notice the next expansion has a lack of content, this seems to be generally a station cash weighted move.

Of course this will get flamed and this is why soe continues to get away with the whole station cash debacle.

There are also things like our DoF djinni bottle. We can go in, but we can't decorate it. I would love to be able to decorate that, and I already own it. Instead they give me the Maj'Dul vacation house, if I want to spend money on SC. That's not quite fair, in particular as they took the same idea as the bottle for the house.

I am so happy with my island!!! lol The only things I have placed on it right now are my two teleporters to get from the lower island to the top!

Oh, and there is an easier way to place the teleporters, than using the layout editor... Go stand by the waterfall in the pond, angle your view down until you are looking directly at the waterfall reflection...place the first teleporter pad and press ctrl while scrolling up...do this while watching the reflection of the water fall until it passes the top of the upper island (the pad will look like it is moving away from you in the reflection)...then place the other teleporter pad down.

Run over the one on the lower island, port yourself to the upper one, then pick up the upper one and jump onto the upper island...then place the teleporter pad back down...Ta-da!!

At least, that's what I did.

That's what my guild does - nifty new things get put in there to let everyone see them, and then removed.

I think the better solution is to pop up a warning box whenever you try to place an SC item, something about how the guild can remove trustee access at any time and by placing it, you're donating it to the guild, and if you leave or get kicked out, SOE will not give you the item back. So do you really want to place it? And once you click the yes button, SOE can say you knew what you were doing when you placed it.
