Directx error and ctd

<p>so Have I Cloud - it started yesterday. It was working before so I don't know what has changed in Eq2 - I have made no changes to my system - I reinstalled DirectX and also by Video drivers - still crashing. I think something changed in EQ2.</p>

<p>What is your method of starting the game?  There are a few paths that may not work immediately after certain updates.  These typically include running the executable directly with the newer launchpads without patching first but are not the only ways.</p>

<p>There was an update to one of the DirectX files.  I'm trying to remember which one but I think it ended in a 37.  If it didn't patch it'd probably explain the crash.</p>

<p>Ok more infor - I run in windowed mode - If I change to full screen I can take a screen shot. BUT when I go to login in another character I crash to the desktop with the same error that folks are getting taking a screnn shot. If I login in a new character fresh in full screen mode - I crash to the deskstop when taking a screen shot ( usualy error message)</p><p>The only way I can get this to work is if I EQ2Settings and change my settings back to windowed mode ( it will not let me change in the game) -- then login the character, change to full screnn - take my screen shots - log off and run EQ2setting back to Windowed mode.</p><p>All CTD give the same error message that Cloud has posted/</p>

I camp my character and go to chracter select and pick a character, and select PLAY. . This bypasses the Patcher -- When I camp I go to the character select screen - pick a character and select play. If I logoff completely to the desktop and restart EQ2 and run the patcher I can log a character in fine.</p><p>I do NOT use the new or old launcher. I installed the game using the Kunark expansion as my base - so I don't have these launchers -- The game just gets updated whenever patches come out using the Kunark expansion as the base game. This was I don't have to use the newer launchers which I don't like  The file version of the Launcher I use is 1.0.0.1 -- It works just fine and it patches just fine whenever a new patch comes out.</p>

Screen shots worked fine for me until several weeks ago and a resent update broke them. My situation is the same as everyone else and I get the same error method.</p><p>I doubt if the problem is with CAMP as I have no trouble camping from one character to another -- the problem comes when I get mixed up in changing from full screen to windows and back and trying to take a screen shot. THE PROBLEM comes with the screen shot.  You can only change to full screen and take a screen shot with one charcter. - you have have to logoff to the desktop, run EQ2setting and get back to windowed mode - log on the next charaact, change to full full screen and RINSE AND REPEAT for every character you want to use to take a screen shot.</p><p>I camp and switch characters all the time without any trouble - the problem is the direct X error which does a CTD when you try to take a screen shot.</p><p>I am NOT changing the launcher - I have used this one since KUNARK was release and had no problem and not problems taking screen shots until a few weeks ago - the same time as everyone else started having problem. And I do NOT use shader 3.</p>
