We are Fayefolk. And we demand respect!Contacts: Vith and SelaendriaAdditional Information/Detailed description: Magic and Mayhem is intended to be fun! That said, our RP may touch on both lighthearted and macabre themes, events and excursions. We intend the guild to be a place where all Fayefolk can find a home, develop their characters, interact inside and outside the guild, and enjoy these two very special races. The guild structure, even down to the guild hall (which the awesome Neversea is building – woot!) will be divided into two courts – The Seelie and The Unseelie. We will also have “neutral ground” in the hall for our meeting area. Although we may be divided in our individual methods and motivations, the overarching goal is one of unity among the Fae and Arasai. There may be some inter-guild political intrigue, but at the end of the day we’re all in this together!

For more information on theme, structure and ranks, please see our website. And how it all began...Once upon a time in Norrath, there lived a little Fae maiden and a little Arasai lad. The Fae and the Arasai were as different as day and night, except for one thing they both shared in common: an obsession with shiny things.

One day, as the Fates would have it, the Fae and the Arasai found themselves in the same forest, on the same path, and eyeing the very same glimmering shiny. The Fae maiden’s eyes widened at the sight of her enemy, the Arasai…just as his eyes narrowed at the sight of the Fae.

“It’s mine!” the Fae cried, bolting for the beautiful shiny. “I saw it FIRST!”

“Stupid Fae-thing! It’s mine!” the Arasai exclaimed, moving just as fast to beat her to the treasure. “I don’t CARE if you saw it first!”

The two crashed into each other atop the shimmering sparkle in the dirt, wings fluttering and swords drawn, in a tangle of tiny limbs.

“Oh no you don’t! Back off” the Fae demanded. “Or I’ll cut you!”

The Arasai simply laughed, brandishing his own weapon, “I’ll just kill you and take it then!”

The two fayfolk squared off, shouting insults in Faerlie and making quite a commotion with the clanging of their swords. The two mischief-makers were so evenly matched that the battle pitched on for the better part of an hour. Their tiny beating wings and scrambling feet carved ruts in the grass beneath then.

Now, Norrath is a wondrous land full of magical beings of all sorts. And this small battlefield was no exception. What was unknown to the Fae and the Arasai, was that they were fighting atop the unmarked grave of an old and powerful gypsy witch. And the glimmering shiny that had caused the quarrel in the first place was her crystal ball.

So heated was the fighting between the fayfolk, that they did not at first see the ghost of the gyspy materialize out of the ground… not until she stepped between them, her sorceress powers flinging them apart. She was Fae...or was she Arasai? There was no way to tell from the apparition. But her transparent wings and diminutive size made it clear that she was one or the other.

“Enough!” the gypsy spirit growled, having at last gotten their full attention. “How dare you come to steal my crystal ball! How dare you both disturb my rest!”

The Fae and the Arasai stopped and stared at the spirit, their weapons raised but for the moment, forgotten. It was not the first ghost either had seen. Nor was it even the scariest.

"YOURS?! I don't think so," the Arasai cried. "I saw it first. Besides, you're dead so...yeah. Go back down there, why don't you!"

The Fae was quick to retort, "You did NOT see it first! You're nothing but a dirty little liar!"

The spirit of the witch darkened and pulsed with anger and arcane magic. “Now you will both see. Now you will learn the price of your pettiness and greed." She lifted her spectral arms toward the pair. "I curse you!” it hissed at them. She chuckled deeply in what used to be her throat. “I curse you each to feel the pain you inflict upon the other.” Then the spirit began to chant:

Magic and Mayhem - you will see!Magic and Mayhem - thee to thee!Magic and Mayhem - first is last!Magic and Mayhem - bind you fast!

A chill and foul air blew over the embattled Fayefolk, and the crone shrieked a wicked laugh. "And now for the object of your strife and desire..." She gestured toward the crystal ball, which rose rose from the ground and cracked in half with a groan of her willpower. One piece landed at the Arasai’s feet, the other at the Fae’s. “Make the ball whole once more, and break the curse. If you do, you will unlock the ball's considerable power - more power than you've ever dreamed of!"

“H-how?” The little Fae stuttered.

The crone’s ghost demanded that they learn to work together and that only when they both mutually decide which of them was most deserving of the whole crystal would the halves join and become whole.

“Well, that won’t be hard!” the clever Arasai boasted, clearly thinking himself to be most deserving. Why would this silly, simpleminded Fae not agree?

This bragging displeased the spirit.

“Silence, fool! That's only part of it. You must also unite your kind in common purpose. Fae and Arasai. United!” The ghost cackled, knowing it to be an impossible task. Without another word, it disappeared back into the ground.

Just when they thought they were alone again, the crone’s voice boomed, “When the two halves lose their sparkle, you are both doomed to this curse forever!” Then they were truly alone.

“This is all your fault, stupid Arasai!” The Fae lamented, scooping up her half of the ball. It was shimmering with a bright golden light.

The half at the Arasai’s feet gleamed with a dark unnatural light. Without warning, he charged the Fae with his sword, but the Fae was quick on her feet, and suffered only a cut to her arm.

The Arasai screamed in shock and pain at the cut that suddenly appeared on his own arm!

“We ARE cursed!” he wailed. "This is ALL YOUR FAULT!"

And so, the Fae (known as Selandria) and the Arasai (known as Vith) left all they knew behind and forged an uneasy alliance - not only to work together as individuals, but also to unite other Faefolk. Seelie and Unseelie...Good and Evil...Fae and Arasai thrust together by a chance encounter that would change their lives forever.

Changed forever...by Magic and Mayhem.
