I'm not entirely sure if it was when the spire event went live, or when you folks shut it down for fixing, but the past few days I've had some terrible latency spikes.

I've seen similar reports in level chat, and even connecting to this website is slow. No other site or game is having this issue, not even media heavy websites like CNN(I hate auto play videos in a news site as an aside.. /rant).

Normally my latency sits under 150ms. Lately it's been fluctuating before 250-2500, something dropping from 250 to 1750+ within seconds and then back down again.

It's making doing quite a few things unbearable.

Is this on your end? The fact other things here on my network are running just fine with normal latencies make me suspect as much, but I figure I ask if there's something you know would be causing it.

If you want me to do a ping test/tracert I'll need a server to trace to.

Done those.

It's not my connection. Not this time. Usually I can blame Suddenlink. :/

I noticed this too. Our connection was running fine, but for some reason it was really bad.

I don't play primarily on your server but we haven't seen anything similar, other than individual player issues, that would have caused an increase in ping above normal thresholds. I do know many people on Crushbone, well all servers, and haven't heard of similar issues that would lead me to believe its occurring game wide. In any case, let's be thorough, start with the basics then move on and make sure where this is coming from.

Go ahead and run through our network test instructions below and PM me the results.

I need you to bring up a run dialog box. You can do this by pressing and holding the Windows key on your keyboard and tapping the R key.

In the box that pops up I need you to type cmd and press Enter (If you're using Windows Vista/7 press ctrl-shift-enter).

This is going to bring up an old “DOS box” don’t worry it’s just text.

You’ll need to type in the following commands one at a time. Remember to put spaces between all the words, unless there’s a special character like / or . in front of the word. Then you’ll want to keep that symbol and the word together.

If you’re having a lot of trouble you can also just copy and paste the text out of this email and into the DOS box.

These commands can take a while to run so please wait for the blinking cursor to appear since you won’t see any output to your screen. For the pathping commands you might even want to go grab some coffee, or a sandwich between lines.

So, all set? Here’s the commands:

 ipconfig /all > c:eq2info.txt

 tracert unrest.everquest2.com >> c:eq2info.txt

 tracert najena.everquest2.com >> c:eq2info.txt

 tracert befallen.everquest2.com >> c:eq2info.txt

 pathping unrest.everquest2.com >> c:eq2info.txt

 pathping najena.everquest2.com >> c:eq2info.txt

 pathping befallen.everquest2.com >> c:eq2info.txt

If you’re curious what you’re saving for us, try the commands again but without the >’s or the stuff after them. Go ahead, I’ll wait… Pretty confusing huh? Don’t worry I speak gibberish fluently and can translate it for you.

Ok now that you’re done with that, you’ll have a file on your hard drive called “eq2info.txt”. If you go into your hard drive you’ll find it right in the main folder. To get there, just do that Windows key and R trick from earlier, and type C: and press enter. The file will be in there. Just send that file into me, I’ll translate it and figure out what happened to your connection, then I’ll let you know. No worries it’ll be pretty painless, but we might need you to contact another company if it’s not something on your computer that’s doing this.

It will be in your inbox shortly.

I'm going to bet 20 bucks that it's ATT. Your servers are in SoCal? My WoW battlegroup, Reckoning, is in a datacenter in Los Angeles. If there's a huge clog up and I'm having connection issues, it's usually an ATT line somewhere in SoCal.

-_-
