Last week and for several months beforehand, I have been logging into EQ2 from the regular launchpad. This week I try to log in as normal (i.e. double click the exact same icon, loading my game as I would any other day) and the game just hangs at the loading screen.

The furthest it will go right now is me staring at the Sony Online Entertainment written on the black background in the launchpad border. That's it! Now the game will not load to the log in information screen when it did so just fine Monday morning 18 July!!

I have not changed locations, have not changed log in information, have not loaded new software or done any pc updates in the days before and after this issue.

Since this issue I have deleted EQ2 and reinstalled. Nothing. I deleted EQ2 again, deleted the folders where my EQ2 info was stored and reinstalled. Nothing.

[Removed for Content] is going on and how do I fix this??

Would love to see a response to this, since I'm dealing with the same problem. The only difference is I moved locations, but not ISP's.

This is typically a Flash issue.

I recommend uninstalling your current Flash Player and reinstalling the version linked below.

<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; mso-fareast-font-family: Calibri; mso-fareast-theme-font: minor-latin; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA;">- Flash Player: http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/fla...h_player_ax.exe

That did it. Thanks a ton Josh. Only wish I would have posted here prior to deleting eq files lol.

As of 23 July, No this did not fully resolve this issue. It worked when I initially did the new flashplayer install. Then I log off completely and try to log back in and nothing. Still hangs at the SOE screen without moving on to input login information. I have reinstalled the stupid flashplayer more times than i can count now and am losing patience quickly.

What is the next step to fix this ridiculous problem?

We can look in to other things but it sounds like theres a bigger problem with your PC that a perfectly fine copy of flash would just stop working for you. I've seen the issue itself before, but not constant recurrances once resolved.

Josh,

Just a heads up, Im still having the same issue after weeks of messing with it and support tickets.

Also, the link you provided and the one the launcher sends you to are an outdated version of Flashplayer. 10.3 worked fine for me, but now that Flashplayer 11.1 is out I lock up every time on both machines. It should be also noted that uninstalling flashplayer, opening the launcher, following the link, then following the button to relaunch launchpad gives additional errors.

I cant speak for anyone else, but I think 11.1 really messed things up for me.

(I have existing tickets in with msinfo32 and dxdiag, running no UI or other 3rd party software, tried setting IE9 as my default and clearing the cache, even tried uninstalling Firefox). Im running no proxy or firewalls.

Im living in the mid east now so thought it may be a location issue, though its odd I was able to play for a few weeks. Even now I can play if i go straight to the everquest2.exe file, but that will only last until the next patch.

Are there addresses I can try to ping to see if there's a hangup? I tried sdkeq2-12-01.everquest2.com and didnt have any issues.

If its a Flash problem Im basically stuck, a complete uninstall of flashplayer and EQ2 and completely clearing my registry of both was the only fix Ive found, but as soon as it was done I ran into the same error. I guess I could completely wipe the game and repatch from scratch with each new patch but with a 15 hour download time that simply isnt practical.

Is your default browser google by chance?

We've had a lot of success having players switch back to Internet Explorer, uninstall all flash players, and re-install from the link I provided. Once re-installed you can switch your default browser back to whatever it may have been.

Flash Player

I'm having exactly the same issues. It was working fine, and then I relocated, and now the launcher just shows the SOE logo and nothing else. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling Flash several times to no avail. I've tried setting IE to default browser. I've cleared caches. I've even tried installing the game again by moving the PAK-folder back and forth. Nothing helps. It works just fine when I use the web launcher at:launch.soe.com/lp3/index.html?game=eq2&skin=eq2However, it doesn't patch from there because it doesn't recognise the installation folder.

I'm stuck now. I registered and now I can't play. Way to get my money. ;(

Also, the Flash player you keep linking Joshua won't install because it complains about not being the latest version. I've tried installing an earlier version of Flash but it refuses to install at all because it tells you to get the latest version instead.

Why can't you just add simple replacement buttons for patching and playing in the launcher if Flash fails? I can't play because I can't initiate the patching in any way. Forcing me to mess around with faulty Flash applications is not what I want to do to play EQ2.

EDIT: Being able to manually download the files would also solve the issue for me.

Ok so I solved the problem, but I'm not exactly sure what did it. Figured I'd post it anyway to help others with the same problem.

- I reinstalled Flash several times in different ways, including the ActiveX one. This did not help.- I made Internet Explorer my default browser. This did not help.- I tried reinstalling the game several times. This did not help.

Since the launcher was working fine when running the browser version at:launch.soe.com/lp3/index.html?game=eq2&skin=eq2This made me pretty certain that the problem laid somewhere within the EQ2 client, and not Flash or anything else involved. So to be certain, I did the following:

- Let Internet Explorer remain my default browser just in case.- Uninstalled EQ2, but moved all the large files to a different folder first so I wouldn't have to download everything again.- Uninstalled Flash again.- Restarted the computer.- I ran "regedit" and searched for any instants of EQ2, Everquest and Sony and deleted them (some things in the registry were named Sony but not related to Everquest, which I didn't remove, so be sure you know what you're doing). I probably deleted about 10 entries in the registry in total.- Restarted the computer.- Installed the latest Flash directly through Internet Explorer.- Downloaded the EQ2 Streaming client instead (can be found directly on www.everquest2.com in the top menus). (EDITED TO ADD DIRECT LINK: http://launch.soe.com/installer/EQ2...aming_setup.exe)- Ran the installation file for the EQ2 Streaming, and voila, it was working! It no longer got stuck with the SOE logo on a black background.- Once the patcher started downloading, I exited the launcher and put the backups of the large files back into the game directory, then restarted the launcher.

Now it's been working ever since. I'm on a rather slow connection right now so occasionally it takes about 20 seconds with the SOE logo on a black screen before it continues, but it always works now. These were the steps I did, but I'm pretty certain that it was either the cleaning of the registry or the change of client to the EQ2 streaming one that did the trick. Good luck!
