Stability Testing -

Prime95 - Stable for over 26 hours / blend testsMemtest86+ - Stable / no errors for about 10 hours (I will do this for 24 hours+ tonight)3D Mark11 - No errors / artifacts in over 4 hours of testingSystem - OS - Windows 7 64 bit Home PremiumM/B - Gigabyte z68mx-udh-b3 F5 BIOSHD - Agility 3 OCZ SSDGPU - Sapphire Radeon 6950Ram - GSkill 2x4GB DDR3 12800 1600 MhzCPU - Intel i2500kCooling - Water Cooled

* Heat is not an issue. In P95, in an ~70 degree F room, the temps never exceed 60 degrees F. In game, the temps hardly go above 35 degrees F as per Real Temp. *

I recently built this system (5 weeks ago). I have been unable to replicate this error in any setting other than EQ2. WoW runs fine, all desktop operations run fine, all stability tests as per above run fine.Situation -

I should note, I do not believe (not positive though) this issue has ever occured during solo play and I cannot be sure it has happened in group play, although I think it has. It most definitely occurs in raids though.

While playing, the game will lock up. This can occur between 30 minutes and 3 days of playing. The system locks up and after a short while (sometimes) the screen goes black. The keyboard does not work. Push to talk doesnt work for voice chat, but I can still hear people talking in the background, so it seems this flaw is in EQ2 itself, as opposed to the system. A hard crash would stop everything, but hearing voice chat in the background leads me to believe something else is occuring. The num lock and caps lock keys do not toggle though, which is troubling.

The system is not OC'd in any way, everything is stock. All drivers are the latest from their respective manufacturers.

An odd note though. Sometimes, when I camp out I get an error message. The AERO pop up tells me EQ2 has stopped working and asks if I would like to look for a solution blah blah blah. This error only occurs on camp out and I think this only occurs when in full screen mode. Furthermore, I do not think the above lock up has ever occured while in windowed mode, but I cannot confirm this.

I am sure you will need the DXdiag (DX 11) info. I will post that tonight when I get back to my home computer. Furthermore, this was a fresh install (OS / EQ2). My next step is to wipe everything and reinstall, but that will have to wait until tomorrow and I was hoping to get some / any insight into the issue prior to that step, if possible.

I use the following addons - ProfitUI, Dargo Wolf Spell Timer, EQ2 Map and Enemy Spell Timer Cast Bar. I will raid tonight with those addons off and see if the crash still occurs (ie using default UI).

Below I have read some similar scenarios and while I am not one to blame EQ2, as it is often the system at fault, this truly seems to be specific to the EQ2 environment.

Thanks!

While I don't get to play much, I do have my client logged in almost all day long and not encountering similar issues.

Let's get your DXDIAG first and make sure there isn't anything outstanding and then we'll continue on. Very hard to test and reproduce issues that may not occur for hours but I assure you I'm still trying!

I know you say you are watercooled so I just want clarity on the temperatures you recorded.

35F seems a bit wrong even for water cooling without a peltier present. That's only 3 degrees above the freezing point.

If you meant 35C, that's a perfect temp to be at and would make the most sense with water cooling, under load, without a peltier.

Also, what is water cooled? And did you check GPU temps as well?

Sorry. I meant C on that, Real Temp is in C and here everything is measured in F.

Only the CPU is water cooled. Quick 3d mark run showed 65-70 C max temps. Mind you, it is pretty cool here at the coast today, so my room is likely about 5-8 degrees F cooler than normal. That being said, I don't see my GPU temps changing much with that small variation.

65-70C on a 'quick 3d mark run' seems a bit high to me. How about in-game EQ2 preferably right before the time the issues occur? Not saying it's the source of the issue. Going over some of those now.

Entire cache folder now deleted.

By quick I meant not using all the DEMOs etc. Just doing the stress tests only, which take about 4-5 min, run in 5 loops which is default on the professional version. Max temp achieved was 68 degrees C.

What is turbo boost?

In EQ2 I dont ever pass 60, even in raids. In fact, I don't think my fan has ever even bothered to kick up to 100%. I play with pretty light graphic settings. I'm more into the performance over quality. Few particles, low textures etc.

Turbo boost is what causes your CPu to run up to 3.6GHZ (i think 3.7 max by default). Bios setting for the i5/i7 series.
