We only need the top 3 sections of the DXDIAG file (system/display/sound devices).

As for your issue, could be a few different things going on. We'll start with the basics, i've included standard cache/game configuration clearing settings below.

What I'd also like to know is if you have any driver forced settings configured in the Nvidia control panel and if you've had any issues or seen artifacts in anything else.

With a 2500k I'd assume you are tech savvy, so if you have a way to monitor temperatures on your video card please do so and report the temps. You are not describing a typical overheating situation but we just want to rule it out as well.

You may want to make backups and then delete the following files and folders:

cache folder

eq2_recent.ini

eq2_default.ini

EverQuest2.exe

eq2.ini

As well as the character specific files, these will appear as such:

Servername_CharacterName_EQ2_uisettings.ini

Stationname_characters.ini

To do this, please follow these directions:

1. First look for your EverQuest II Extended directory. You can find the default directory in (for Windows XP): C:Program FilesSonyEverQuest II (for Windows Vista/7): C:UsersPublicSony Online EntertainmentInstalled GamesEverQuest II

2. Click on MY COMPUTER and then proceed into local disk C:

3. Navigate your way to the default directory, or your chosen installation directory.

4. Next look for any files explained above and delete them.

5. Afterwards, please start EverQuest II to have these files re-downloaded by the patcher.

If deleting these files does not resolve your issue, you can restore your backed up files and folders and retain your hotkeys, contact lists, and display settings.

Thank you for your quick reply!

I agree with you about the temps, as you can see from the pic below my temps are avg to below avg for my card under load. I had EQ2 running on extreme gfx setting and spent 10mins running around in heavy gfx areas trying to put a load on the GPU. I have a Silverstone Fortress FT02 case and it has great airflow and cooling.

I have no forced gfx settings within my NVIDA configurations. It's getting very late here, so I'll try your basic approach tomorrow and let you know the results.

I should also note that when I encounter this problem, I can log out and right back in and it'll clear up. It's too sporadic for me to even guess at a pattern. I can go 1-2 days without it ever happening and then in 1 day it'll happen 2-3times.

How consistent is it? Do you log in to see graphics like that or does it take a bit for it to begin?

Zuraic
07-18-2011, 12:41 PM

It's very inconsistent. I can log in and play for 2 days and never see any problems but the next day, it happens a few times. An immediate relog clears it up and I don't see it again for a few days.

I forgot to add, I don't see this in some of the other MMO's I dabble in.

Happening on both shader 1 and 3? The overlay on the models look texture/shadow mapping related and Shader 1 and 3 use different models.

If its persisting through both, I wouldn't be able to say with confidence that its game file related and possibly an unknown issue going on with the video card or drivers themselves.

Sounds good. Coincidentally I had the exact same issue this morning on my PC (im at home today), could have remade those screenshots exactly.

For me, my entire PC has been OC'ed for a year and a half and I've rebooted maybe once every other month. It needs a very overdue cleaning and everything is slightly overheating now with how neglectful I've been!
