After I hit the play button my screen goes back to desktop and then about 10-15 mins later the game starts to launch. Any help would be great I do not know where to begin to fix this.

Could you post your DXDIAG information (just the top3 sections) and/or open a support ticket with your MSINFO files? We've seen this quite a bit but the causes have been incredibly varied between users reporting it.

Well, something changed. I hit play this evening and it went straight to char select instead of waiting. Not sure why it's working properly again, but hopefully it continues!

I get this on my first run each day of the game, been like that for as long as I've used the streaming client. The hard drive grinds like crazy (another user posted over on the EQ2X forums that it's actually re-writing the entire asset cache for some reason) and there's actually an EverQuest2.exe process listed but not displayed. Attempting to kill that process does nothing until it's done whatever it's doing, and then the game runs normally.

The larger my asset cache gets, the longer this process takes. I end up deleting my asset cache every few days to keep the load/grind time to a minimum.

Deleting that folder prompts a re-download of the entire game. While it may not explain how the issue first occurred, redownloading the game over and over again would absolutely cause a ton of overhead/lag each time you do it.

Now, as your client gets closer to having the game fully downloaded, the "grinding" shouldn't get progressively worse. I would look in to any issues with your memory, hard drive, or page file (possible corruption, you can remove and recreate this) for an answer as to why it does that for you specifically.

However, we do have a Full download version of our latest LaunchPad (LP3) available. If you are okay with downloading the entire game up front I can assure you that it will correct a majority of the issues you describe with the streaming launchpad. It does not use an asset_cache folder, instead it uses the old PAKS file structure available in Station Launcher and prior. Not only should this address your specific issue, it also makes troubleshooting zone/object specific issues as you have direct access to each individual game file.

[EQII] LaunchPad

It's been almost a year now without SOE responding to it, even though people still continue to report the problem. They're technically separate clients I know, but the symptoms are the same so it stands to reason the cause is the same for both. There was a brief period of a couple weeks after an EQ2X patch that the problem went away for me, as you can tell by my post in that thread.

This is the original thread where I first heard of the problem, and DanKinney from SOE seems to acknowledge it's a streaming client issue, but there are some steps here the OP might want to try anyway and see if they work:

http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2x...m?topic_id=2085
