Research is a great ability, and it's a fantastic idea. But it could use a few tweaks, at leats in my opinion. So here are my ideas on how to allow for reductions in research time without making research trivial.

1) Allow the spending of coin to reduce research. 10gold per hour, 1plat per day. Yes, if you've got 10 or more hours remaining, you'll just be dropping a full day.

2) Allow for conversion fo XP to research... call it RXP for Research XP. Make a new slider, with the AAXP slider starting from the left of the slider, and the RXP slider starting from the right (the area in the middle is what's actually being used for advancement in level.) This would have the added benefit of needing a RXP bar, which means not having to open your research tab to see how long you have remaining.

3) Allow the sacrificing of Treasured+ items, like transmuting and deity benefits. Essentially, you're tearing down existing magic to divine how you can augment your own.

Thoughts?

no.

no.

no.

masters for a charactor should not just be handed to you cause you farmed seb for a hour. masters for a toon should be a accomplishment, time consuming and definatly not instant, easy or free.

the way research is right now, is more then fair.

I take pride in getting mastered and with 22 alts I have 4 toons that I am focusing on getting mastered rest are alts and if I get a master on them yay, if not well no worries.

I was almost mastered before the RA came out and took pride now well the pride is lesser due to waiting amonth and boom a master. Good thing is I have saved a ton of plat though but I spend that on gear lol.

I honestly don't know anyone that primarily gets their master spells from scrolls these days. Yeah, if you're a rich SOB and you want to speed an alt up, you might buy your primary spells off the broker. But for the most part I bet they're mainly used for transmuting.

I don't have an issue with a plat sink that speeds up the research, as long as it's set to an appropriate level.

Further, nothing suggested would make masters instant, easy or free - however, masters would become something a player could actually work to obtain, rather than hope to get lucky with drops.

For the OP, straight out no. I don't really view research as it is now as a threat to my scholars simply because in t9, you're looking at a significant amount of time if you don't even plan to acquire experts. If you add in the ability to speed up researching by spending plat, that whole time sink goes completely out the window, especially considering how easy it can be to gain plat if you try.

Grumble69 wrote:

I honestly don't know anyone that primarily gets their master spells from scrolls these days. I do use the researcher but if the master I'm researchign drops or I cna get it a the right price on the broker then I move on to another one

I'm actually kind of a mixed approach person. Get a couple from running instances. Check the broker on occassion. And then finish the rest off the research dude.

tbh how it is now is fine, but i think like in eq1 they need to add a tradeskill type deal as a different way to let players do it with rare mob dropped componets.
