Considering the removal of the equipment requirement on Rogues "Lunge Reversal" Alternate Advancement a while back it would make sense to also have the Warriors "Reversal" Alternate Advancement changed to NOT require the use of a Shield or other equipment to function.

The rogue WIS line was heavily nerfed when the resitrictions were removed.

You use to be forced to only use a Single Weapon whilst specing in the WIS tree with NO Offhand allowed... which while looking really cool actually ended up costing you a ton of DPS. The line has less Double Attack then it once did but you actually gained two very useful Combat Arts (Deft Disarm and Coule) and have more DPS by being allowed to Dual Wield despite the Double Attack loss. My only complaint about both Rogue "Lunge Reversal" and Warrior "Reversal" is they should have a much faster refresh time on the buffs triggers (iirc its like 15 for one and 20 for the other)... thats assuming they also remove the equipment restrictions from the Warrior's "Reversal" ability...

I know all this because I actually do have a 90 Swashbuckler with 300 AA on my roster.

The Rogue line was changed because it made no "sense" for anyone to spec for Lunge reversal because it forced rogues to give a gear slot with nothing to replace the loss of stats / dps - thereby impacting the Rogue's primary role. Lunge Reversal signified the rogue's blade expertise -- the finesse of a fencer.

In the case of warriors, the line still allows the use of all gear slots -- impacting dps to a degree (due to one less weapon or the use of a 2h in place of 2 weapons, to be replaced with a shield), but not the warrior's intended role: tanking. Reversal signifies the warrior's defensive expertise when geared to defend, as opposed to when geared to be offensive.

While I do not see any sense in removing the restriction, I would like to see it be able to proc more often -- maybe even returning it to prenerf levels

You remember the Brawler line that use to require no weapons at all as well? There are lots of other examples like this in the game.

Flash forward to today and very few Alternate Advancement abilities even still have equipment requirements attached, and many normal Abilities which use to have equipment requirements have had them removed altogether (ex. Fighter Shield Bashs). And since you brought it up I could also argue the point that Rogues who are operating outside their intended role do not suddenly lose their ability to use "Lunge Reversal" even if they throw on a Shield and are in their "Defense Stance" to tank.

Conversely a Warrior in "Offensive Stance" wielding a Two-Hander or Dual Wielding to DPS should not be losing their ability to counterattack via their ability "Reversal" either. I see Warriors as tacticians and martial experts they should be every bit as skilled as a Rogue in swordplay, the differance is Rogues dont fight fair and are more focused on subtlety then toe to toe combat. I see no reason why a Warrior couldnt be skilled enough to turn a blade with thier own and still land a retaliatory strike, thats something a skilled Warrior should be capable of Shield or not.

And reguardless of our individual perception of how we think different classes should operate in the end that should be something that is up to the person playing them. The less game mechanics that get in the way of that the better.
