Been playing this game for 5 years with no problem boxing on the same computer. Played last night with all three accounts running at once with no problems. Log in today and I can get one account working but the other two get stuck after clicking "Log In" green box upper right corner goes to "Intializing..." then "Playing..." and hangs up there. What's the solution to this problem? And the answer "buy two more computers" is not an option nor a way to keep my business. Something changed on the SOE side from last night to today. I would like to know what that is and how I can get back to playing this game the way I like to. Thanks for your support.

Having the exact same issue here, for the last week or so i have been boxing two accounts on the same machine with no issues. Everything was working fine on monday night but as of tuesday somethings wrong with the launcher. The first account logs in no problem then when I try to log into the second account the launcher gets stuck on "playing" and just stays there. Please help

Also having issues I have pulled both accounts up where the play is on both accounts and try to get the windows to go simultaneously but as soon as one is hit the other says playing on the green bar

Happened to me just now after successfully boxing most of the time I was playing today. Logged out to raid, then tried to log both accounts in - same problem as the other posters.

I know it's not helpfull for folks on the new launcher, but those of us on Station Launcher had no problems today. Fired up four clients on one system without incident, no change from yesterday.

Station Launcher is going out of support, or is already out of support, or could suddenly die any day now. On the other hand, it seems to never have the same problems with multi-clienting that the new launcher does from time to time. Where convienient, I wholeheartedly reccomend riding the Station Launcher for as long as it continues to run...

Otherwise, you're at the whim of whatever sony did to you today, with the hopes they may know what they did, and fix it....

-Ken

I had the very same problem several months back, here's how i got it work.

I three box one one PC

I first copied the game foler and pasted it twice more on my hard drive, effectivley giving me three seperate game folders. I then went into each of the folders and copies the launched file to my desk top, so i have three seperate shortcut icons (eq1,eq2 and eq3).

It works fine now

They may be some other way around it this was the only way i could get all three instances to run.

Good luck.

I too am having this problem and am using the streaming client. The game was fine at about 9.30 pm BST and by about midnight, I could only get one account at a time working. I have tried to download the streaming launchpad as recommended here:

http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...topic_id=501183

First I tried the streaming version but that made no difference and then, against my better judgement, I tried the full version. This must be the whole game surely at 12.4 GB? My download rate meant it would take about 13 hours to do that! Anyway, it cancelled itself about an hour in and I don't need the full game. I dIidn't try deleting folders yet but may yet get desperate enough to try it.

I have just logged in both accounts using the old launchpad and it works fine.

I did the opposite - using the full copy I have the problem. It's not either streaming or full copy - it's the launchpad. And whatever they did borked it from one hour to the next - unannounced.

I'm still on my free days from coming back to the game. I'm trying to AA up a Defiler and Templar (lol). If I can't box those two characters, there is no way I can catch up in a way that will be helpful at all - so at the risk of sounding like a little kid - I will take my ball and go home if this isn't resolved quickly.

Putting 2 copies of the game on my computer after not having to do that for almost six years isn't gonna answer this problem for me, and will probably just tick me off.

Arielle Nightshade
06-22-2011, 02:27 PM

...nothing?

Ok...with no answer - I copied and pasted the game folder so I had 2 copies of the game on my machine - and have to run it that way in order to box. NOT HAPPY.

I reinstalled - which means now I have to redo my UI TWICE. Thank you for nothing. Seriously.

Thanks for the help with a work around. Not surprised at all to see no response from SOE on this. I'm gonna try making three copies of the game and see if that works. It pisses me off that I have to do this. Now I've got to eat up another 42Gigs of hard drive space just to play the game the same way I always have. Does sony really have no clue that people multibox on this game? How difficult is it to keep that in mind when making or updating the THIRD generation launcher? It seems that, once again, it's up to the players to help each other out to find work arounds for SOE thoughtlessness.

If we ever do get a response on this thread it will probably read something like this...

"We're here to support our loyal paying customers. We value your partronage but are sorry to inform you that we do not support multiboxing. We know that many of our customers have multiple accounts and that a large majority of them dual box etc and we also know that they do this to save time leveling toons as they can run them all at once instead of spending double or triple the time leveling multiple accounts. Yet we feel you need to spend even more time playing this game so we made it even more difficult for you to 2, 3, 4box etc. Thanks again for putting up with our egoscentricities and have a nice day!"

You can add me to the list. Honestly I will not install multiple copies of the game anymore. If it comes down to it I will go back to a single account. I enjoy boxing but the latest LaunchPad needs to be on it's toes if they want to keep the multiboxers playing/paying. Which is a probably a third of the population these days.

I was looking at this thread last night and was really hoping that someone from support would've given a heads up by now.

Found the old workaround did not need to copy a second/third instance to my precious ssd space. Went into the directory where the game is installed. In my case:

"C:UsersPublicSony Online EntertainmentInstalled GamesEverQuest II"

I made a shortcut from the EverQuest2 application to the desktop (Not the EQ2). I used the launcher first and then this second. It starts the game gets through the first little cutscene and prompts for your credentials. Logged in my second account with no issues. This is on a Windows 7 box using the latest launcher so XP may be a little different.

-Edit-

Started up a third account no issues.

Glad you posted this ...cause the x2 loading the game stopped working too.

If I can't box, I won't play. Simple as that. So I'm going to try your fix. Trust me. I've been gone a year and a half. Being gone for good isn't going to take much.

Fantasay, did anyone ever tell you you are brilliant? Well, just in case they didn't, you are brilliant!

I messed about with the full download and the streaming download, ended up with three EQ2 icons (the original, one from the full and one from the streaming) and couldn't get two accounts to work on any of them.

When I tried to use the original streaming icon, which I had been using for months, I found that the screen resolution was so far out that I couldn't reach to minimise the screen or to get at the control panel which was off the bottom of the screen. Eventually managed to get the options up and adjust only to find that but my ui interface had gone entirely. So, I popped on to my old computer which I used for about two years and on which I have done absolutely no downloading, only to find that the ui interface had disappeared from that also and it was acting like I logged in with the streaming client which I never downloaded to that computer!

Anyway, I gave up on all that and used your idea and it worked fine. I am not sure now though, whether I am using the streaming client or the good old fashioned, but reliable, old one. Ah well, it works - mine not to reason why - even if I could!

And if all this sounds convoluted, it is because I am brain dead and don't know what I have done or why.

Why don't you "officially" support multiboxing? I have two accounts as do each of my two daughters. We have our own guild and group together.
We'll probably need to clean-up you installations. I can't get multiboxing on streaming LP3 to work right without downloading a 2nd set of asset_cache files. Full LP3 works fine, however, as does Station Launcher, for multiboxing.

For you, open a support ticket so I can walk you through cleaning it up and finding out exactly which folder you use on a regular basis. Looks like you may only have 2 separate installs.

Tried using the station launcher and it worked... thanks for getting that fixed. I'm assuming the fact that I can not get the LP3 to open three sessions means that I have the streaming version. Not sure how to tell on my PC but seems logical. According to what I've been told SOE will not be supporting station launcher or it's predecessor so using it will only be a temp fix. I assume I can download the FULL version and will overwrite my streaming version correct?

They will continue to do so until the end-of-life of Station Launcher becomes official.

As for the Full version, it will overwrite the streaming but still download the entire game since they do not share a file structure. Streaming LP3 has an asset_cache folder with around 5 or 6 2GB packages that contain all the game files. The Full LP3 and Station Launcher use the PAK folder with individual object files for just about everything. So, you say you tried SL and it works, you can install the Full LP3 over THAT instead and it won't re-download the whole game since it uses the same PAK folder. There will still be some file conversions taking place but for everything outside of the PAK folder.
