Special Effects and GPU Shadows

<p>For whatever reason I get a HUGE FPS drop when I enable GPU shadows.. (down from 60 to around 20) while AO and Sun Rays give me almost no FPS hit. FPS hits aside, I dislike GPU shadows anyways, I think they're poorly done and I do not wish to use them, but I really love the AO effect and Sun Rays.</p><p>The special effects didn't require GPU shadows on Beta so I would assume they don't need GPU shadows on live.. So is it possible to remove the need to use GPU shadows to enable Special Effects?</p>

<p>I don't have a problem with GPU shadows dropping my FPS significantly.</p><p>Flora, yes. CPU shadows, yes. GPU shadows cause only a small hit for me (4-5 fps). I'm only getting 35-40FPS in the firstplace due to other factors so I usually leave them off but it's not that big of a drop for me.</p><p>This is on an older ASUS laptop.</p><p>Might want to mention what sort of system you have. Could be something with a specific set up they need to address.</p>

<p>GPU shadows do not drop my frame rate at all.</p>

<p>I've not noticed any significant frame rate drop with GPU shadows. My main problem with them is that there's no gradation, any area with any shadow in it at all is 100% black with nothing visible in it. I suspect this is a bug.</p>

<p>I just don't like GPU shadows, I don't have a problem running them.</p><p>EDIT: Oops I meant: since I came back to the game the fps hit is gone and actually theres virtually no fps hit from enabling them, but it doesn't change the fact I don't like them and want to run AO / sun rays <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" /></p>

<p>I don't really like them either but still, they are better than nothing.  CPU shadows on the other hand are not worth the FPS impacy.</p>
