I have a level 90 Templar, and I love the class, but find it frustrating. I was gone for awhile and coming back it seems like the other healers like mystic and warden got better at healing, and also have really nice melee lines.

My templar's heals are largely the same outside of a new ward and I still have no good combat ability and lackluster melee (in spite of the class carrying the name of a historically awesome heavy fighter). My AA tree is full of fighter stuff I can't make much use of, and if I cast a beneficial spell, I lose my damage AA (really stupid). I was hoping for the last 2 years that would get fixed. I'm assuming it won't, templars never seem to get any love...

So anyway I come back 4 months after DoV is released and wardens are outhealing me 2-4 times and also doing great damage at the same time. Mystics are pretty awesome too, and Inquisitors I hear are good though I've not yet run with any to see how their heals and damage compare. I have a mystic and a warden, but still like my templar a lot so I plan on keeping him for the long term (unless I betray to Inquisitor).

So, some questions:

Are wardens really healing more than me, or is it just because HoTs are firing automatically and a lot is wasted that they seem to be doing so much? In other words, can my templar compete with them once I get back in practice and equally geared, or is it simply the state of things that mystics and wardens are really awesome now and templars need some work?

I have been away for 8 months so tips on things related to changes in that time would be great. Not knowing what else to do I geared up in PQ raids and got some jewelry from instances like Ascent. I'm still pretty loss on what my priority as a healer should be on equipoment upgrades, and I mean for all healers not just templar.

In SF I was doing a priority of STAT > POTENCY > CRIT > SPEED > ABILITY MOD.

Given the changes I'd like any pointers on what to focus on now. I know crit/mit is very important, but what about the rest? I've been told that its more like CRIT > POTENCY > STAT > SPEED > ABILITY MOD now.

One last question not really a generic healer question: Inquisitors. I have thought of betraying to gain the melee ability so I could have a bit more fun when not actively healing. However, I worry that I'll lose too much heal ability for my two primary activities.

I don't raid much, I spend most of my time running duo with a conjuror, keeping her pet alive. It does well tanking but can be subject to spike damage, and if she gets aggro I have to keep her alive until she can shed it. We run everything from solo content to even some "needs a group" stuff. The rest of the time I run in single groups with friends and sometimes I'm solo healing and I have some trouble with that at present. Places like Kael give me a lot of trouble with really high spike damage combined with constant modern to high DoTs. For that matter so do other healers at times, so I also work with a warden or defiler friend to keep small groups alive.

If I switch to inquisitor is there going to be a big difference in healing ability? Enough that I'd have trouble with what I commonly do? If its just a matter of changing tactics, that's fine, but betrayal is long and annoying and I'd like at least some ideas before I cold turkey switch.

I'm curious about inquisitor because I think it would be fun to be a more active fighter, but healing is still number one priority, especially in duo.
