Are there different avoidance caps for different classes? I've noticed I cant get my zerkers parry to go past 27.5%. I created a new bruiser and he was able to get up to 37.3%. Guardian and Paladin wont move past 27.5%. Did I miss this in the patch notes? I thought the cap should be 70% on parry, block, and avoidance.

Bruisers are considered avoidance tanks so they are able to get avoid higher than anyone else. The cap is certainly not 70% since my bruiser has 87% avoidance and with temp buffs can reach a full 100% avoid.

I meant Parry can go up to 70%, Block 70%, Base 70%, with total avoidance cap should be around 97%.... if its possible. I thought everyone has that cap but i guess only bruisers and monks can get parry that high?

You are right. All avoid base caps are 70%. You can get higher then 70% avoidance on your personae screen but that is because multile 70% avoid stats stack up to 97%. Temps are special case scenarios as well.

The only other cap is the parry SKILL cap which is actually suppose to be soft capped now. Which is why you have a hard time raising your parry skill once you hit the parry skill soft cap. equip some parry % food and you should see your parry score raise higher.

It definitely isn't 70%. Maybe 70% uncontested, but not 70%.

After testing some more, I believe that only bruisers and monks have soft caps since I was able to go higher using a level 1 toon. All other classes have a hard cap only on parry. I did what you said Gungo and it went to 29.1% but thats cuz it was straight up parry % and not skill.

He never specified it as a brawler only soft cap. He stats that parry skill is soft capped at 100 points above your targets defensive skill. How that correlates to the personae window i do not know since the personae window is against a level 90 solo npc.

http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...topic_id=481259

Each individual avoidance check is hard capped at 70%, meaning that you can never have a a greater than 70% chance to parry, block, or dodge an attack. The Avoidance number in the persona screen is a composite of all your individual checks, and can display greater than 70% total. The numbers shown in this screen assume a level 90 solo MOB with default attack skills (whatever "default" happens to be). Note that the number listed as "Base Avoidance" can sometimes be a composite of both your Dodge chance (from Defense skill) and certain other forms of avoidance, like uncontested dodge (see below), and thus can display greater than 70%.

Your actual, practical chance to avoid an attack is calculated as an opposed skill check, comparing your defensive skill values (Defense, Deflection, Parry, etc.) against your opponent's attack skills (Crushing, Piercing, Slashing, Ranged, etc.) The higher your defense skill is above your opponent's attack skill, the greater your chance of avoiding the attack, up to a maximum effective difference of 100 points. In other words, if your opponent's weapon skill is 400, you will benefit from a parry skill of up to 500. If you raise your parry skill from 500 to 510, you will see no additional benefit against that opponent. However, if your opponent then buffs his attack skill to 410, the extra 10 points will once again make a difference. This is what people mean by a "soft cap."

Note that your actual avoidance chances are also affected by things like level difference and MOB rank (solo, heroic, epic, etc.)

There are also forms of avoidance that are referred to as "uncontested" which means that they do not use a skill check and are simply a set percentage chance to avoid an attack. You will usually see such effects presented like, "Caster will dodge 5% of incoming attacks" or thereabouts. These checks are not affected by a MOB's attack skills and are equally effective against all MOBs of a given level. Uncontested avoidance checks are not hard capped at 70%, though it is usually impossible to reach such levels except during short-duration temporary buffs.
