As the topic says, i am looking to come back to EQ2. I havent played in several years, so a lot of stuff should be new to me. Anyways, i am looking to roll a Templar and be a permanent healer. But i pretty much hate to solo and i am looking for someone or a group of players that are online quite a bit and would like to party most of the time.

I doubt this sort of thing even exists anymore since everyone wants to solo or has a guild that just runs them through things, but either way if you interested PM me or respond to this thread. I havent made my character on any server or anything yet so i am open to anything.

Pros to this is i will be on mostly all the time, and you will always have a dedicated healer ^^

Thanks!!

Welcome back! And, great choice. You'll find a lot of changes on your return depending on when you left. And, I'd almost guarantee you'll love all of them. I've sent you a PM, feel free to contact me on Google Chat: Cynthdivide

It's a great server and the people there are incredibly helpful. So far at low level, I really have had no issue finding a group for things it just takes a bit of patience.

Don't pick on Peogia-- she's right. Not only has Smokejumper himself said that Extended's Freeport server has the highest population of any EQ2 server, but I've played quite a bit on both and about the only segment of the pop that's higher on AB or even as high as Freeport's is the level 90 pop. In every level range under that one, Freeport has every other server beat, hands down. Sorry, but even a simple log onto Freeport's Frostfang Sea at night will show double the pops/instances of it up than AB at the same time.

AB may not be dead like most of the other EQ2 live servers, but Freeport it is not (and never will be).

First of all, there are multiple live servers and only one f2p server.

Second of all, the OP didn't ask, hey guys, should I roll live or f2p? Why do you feel the need to come to the live forums and tell people they should be playing f2p when they didn't even ask about f2p?

And third, f2p is not totally equal to live at the free play level. You have to buy this, that, and the other or else pay the equivalent of a subscription to have what you get on live for your subscription.

The OP is looking to team a lot in every level range, and isn't sure what server to pick. Freeport is an EQ2 server just like all the rest-- except if anything it has better hardware than most of them (although the bad-performing ones on live are getting upgraded soon at least). For someone looking to team constantly all the way to the cap, it's the most logical choice, and being an international server cluster, every time zone is hopping besides, for those who play during off-hours due to work, kids, etc.

Plus, there are far and away the most other new players there, so it's a very comfortable server to get acclimated to EQ2 on, even before you commit to any sort of guild. You don't even have to be in one at all to find plenty of teams. And fifteen bucks a month here or fifteen bucks a month there-- a sub here or a gold sub there-- it's about the same, except that there are more cool vanity items in the Freeport SC shop compared to live, and if you want to cancel your sub, you can still play EQ2 (albeit in a more limited fashion) on Freeport whereas you can't on live.

My issue with Freeport is the fact that you can buy your way through the game. I'm totally find with the SC Marketplace on Live because nothing affects gameplay on there, really, it's simply cosmetic. I just don't like the ability to purchase your way through a game.

It's my main reason for never playing F2P games. I've given Freeport its fair short. I'm just not a fan.

People who buy mastercrafted armor or a few rares off the SC shop don't bother me-- I can get those so easily myself by quickly harvesting/crafting that I don't care. (And a few SC-purchased rares that players get can't even begin to whack out the in-game economy of Freeport even remotely as badly as over 6 years of inflation and greed have done to live, lol.)

If the SC shop had fabled dungeon gear drops for sale it would be over the top, but it doesn't. "Buying your way through the game" is certainly an overstatement. It makes it sound like you don't have to earn all your spell upgrades, levels, AAs or the best gear in-game, and you actually do. Not to mention that vet rewards on live (which Extended doesn't have) give you so many XP pots/XP items that if anything you can level and get AAs much faster artificially on live, lol.

I don't see where the SC shop really saves you much time in the long run, really. It's mostly for cool costume-slot vanity gear and mounts, and I do like it for that. I miss some of the coolest stuff when I'm on live, actually, and don't understand why they don't have it all here. There are no stats on vanity gear; what's the big deal? It seems more like live is being slighted in the cash shop vanity-item-wise because they're more focused on Extended, rather than that they're keeping a lot of the costume slot stuff out of the shop so as not to tick off the live crowd.
