I have talked with many players in the game and all have said the same thing to me. They all have problems with being dropped from the game at one point or another. I have been talking with other players and have seen them go Linkdead so I know they all have the same problem that I have had. I contacted SOE about this issue and they insist that the problem is with my computer system or my configuration of my ports in my router. I have been having an ongoing discussion with tech support on this and have explained that everyone that I talked with has the same problem and they replied that I need to contact my ISP to have them configure my settings. If SOE is making me reset my port settings instead of fixing the way the game connects to those ports then they need to notify ALL players so that EVERYONE can reconfigure their ports with their ISPs. If SOE can't supply this information to ALL players up front then they should change the game. The following is the information that SOE gave me and thinks that ALL players should know what this means and what to do with this information. Reply and let me know what you all think about this connectivity issue and what SOE should do about it.

Greetings,Sony Online Entertainment does not support the use of firewalls and proxies, including cable/DSL NAT routers, campus and office networks, or any type of Internet connection sharing services. However, in an effort to assist you in configuring your systems on your own, we would like to provide the following information which may help you in setting up your firewall to work with EverQuest IIEverQuest II Station Launcher and Patch Servers:A TCP connection is initiated from a Station Launcher client port greater than 1023 to patch.station.sony.com port 7000. A UDP connection is initiated from the Station Launcher client port greater than 1023 to sdlaunchpad1.station.sony.com and sdlaunchpad2.station.sony.com port range 3016-3021 and 9700-9703. EverQuest II Patch: A TCP connection is initiated from the EverQuest II client port greater than 1023 to patch.everqeust2.com, abepatch.everquest2.com, laepatch.everquest2.com, or amspatch.everquest2.com at port 7010. Everquest II Game Client:UDP connections are initiated from the EverQuest II client port greater than 1023 to servers on UDP ports 9100, and UDP ports in the range 32800-33000 Additionally, ICMP messages type 0 (echo reply), 3 (unreachable), 8 (echo request) and 11 (expired) should be permitted bi-directionally between the client PC and the EverQuest II servers. EverQuest II Servers Subnets:There are multiple IP addresses for the Patch and Station Launcher clusters, and they may change as the network demands, so check often using a DNS lookup tool if you provide a specific firewall rule for these services. The EverQuest II server IP addresses are currently in these subnets: 64.37.158.*, 199.108.2.*, 199.108.12.*, 199.108.202.*, 199.108.203.*, 195.33.135.*

Complete un-installation of all Everquest 2 content and deletion of the folders at which they had resided in. Then Reboot.

2.) Installation of Everquest 2 Full Client. I don't blame SOE for it's amazing idea of the streaming client, but I've seen some machines just don't work well with it at all. I've seen those machines' issues corrected by using the Full Client instead. I'm impatient, but that 12+ GB download is worth it.

3.) If you're using a Custom UI... Use one that had some sort of Auto-Updater functionality. I'm still in firm belief the wife and I had soo many issues due to the new update conflicting with our UI at that time... Fetish. Not bashing their author for the amazing work for creating it though... Just mentioning a personal experience. We're now ironically using ProfitUI Maintained with no issues. Obviously, straying from third party UI's would yield you the least amount of conflict.

I hope these steps help you in resolution of your own issues... If you find all of this doesn't help you... Some other factors you may want to visit:

1.) Your Internet Security choices.. (Norton, McAfee, etc...) Some are just a pain and cause all sorts of connectivity problems.

2.) Third party apps needing connection. Per example I use Pandora to listen to internet radio while I play... This can sometimes cause my connection to have a hickup.

3.) Kind of fitting into 1... Make sure you don't have any bad stuff on your machine. Viruses, Malware, etc... can seriously impact what happens.

Good luck... feel free to contact me regarding any questions you may have. I'm a highly certified IT Professional and have worked as a Systems Administrator for a very long time with vast experience in dealing with computer related hardware and software issues.

*In no way do I represent SOE and my technical advice is not authorized by them in any way. Should you use it, you do so at your own discretion.*
