If a server is down for patch (2hr scheduled), will it show under server status as 'down'? It doesn't. I recall sometime today, they were suppose to shut down Splitpaw for maintenance. Would they ever want to put that information in the launcher? I can't connect to any of my toons on Splitpaw, and I believe its due to maintenance. But there is no Splitpaw Form, no info in the launcher, no info in the error message about maintenance, and no information on the server status webiste showing it 'is' down.

Are we down? When are we coming back up?

So why does the server status page show SP as up? If I can't connect I look there, and if it says Up then I start to think it's my end.

FIX THE [Removed for Content] STATUS PAGE SONY.

Good morning Iamfred and Whiplash. I agree about the status page. That hardly ever seems to reflect the true situation although I can only comment on Splitpaw. Twas ever thus!

Take a look at the character screens....all my characters are still on Runnyeye server apparently and the AA reports are entirely rubbish. SOE have already admitted that EQ2 is no longer a priority, they are spending the majority of their resources on EQNext.

The common belief is that it's harder to atract new customers than retain existing ones, a point that they would do well to remember if they want a market for EQNext.

I wonder if they hired outside contractors to build the website, all the code is compiled, sealed, and under contract to run 'as is'. So, to fix anything, maybe they have to hire a bunch of guys they let go 2 years ago back, and maybe they can't get them back because they have full time jobs now? And, to do so would require extra expenses that SOE does not have since it's under the data-loss-attack-litigation-bankrupcy-thing (heavy dose of sarcasm here).

How ever sarcastic, one wonders.

i rlly don't want a eq2next, i want eq2 running proper, if Sony invested the time to redesign the game so it more pc friendly and make other slight changes to the game, they can actually rule the MMO world...cause tbh no other game out there can match this one if Sony maintains it proper.o and lil bit of communication to the EU playerbase as well would be very nice

WTB an unlocked SP server sometime this week!

5 hours over schedule now and no word??

Edit: and while you're at is SOE try actually adding patch notes to the "updates notes" tab

It's frustrating, SoE obviously dosent give a flying fortress spire about this game, its loyal years long (and some cases old EQ1) players, and especially the EU server. Our downtime is longer, our petitions and bug reports probably come after the US servers, we get patchs and expansions later....and the game itself, seriously [Removed for Content] Sony? You OWNED the MMORPG market before that [Removed for Content] upstart kid WoW came along! I rekon because Blizzard totally went to town on advertising, globally, Sony dont even SELL let alone advertise outside the US, and even then its a token effort.

WoW only beat EQ2 because people have HEARD of WoW, who hasent? Barely anyone has heard of EQ...*sigh* Makes me cringe to watch a game/s I've enjoyed and had so many many awesome hours of playtime over like, 9 years, start to die, and this EQNext bull? Go ahead release a new game for what good it will do, Thunderthyze is properly right, thats were all the money and rescourses are going but its costing them thier playerbase. Is a rare thing when you can drag a WoW player and convert them, to any other game not just EQ (seriously does that s*it come with crack in the CD case?) What the hell makes them thing pushing out a new game and ailinating the only players they [Removed for Content] well have left (e.g. US) will help? Yeah, somebody go over to SoE's marketing team and hit them over the head with a Yah-lei please

/endrant

Ok thats worn me out and used up a few minets...can somebody turn the Splitpaw switch to ON now?

Cmon SOE, please at least give us an idea that it is even being looked at, we just get left hanging on without a clue what is going on Communication is a good thing

Maybe they are slipping in the new server hardware, they did it on Oasis and Permafrost unannouced a couple of days ago and said Splitpaw was just waiting for it to arrive at the Databank.

Maybe wishful thinking ... but maybe we will be pleasantly suprised

And now it's down again without so much as a by your leave or thank you. - Or did I miss an important announcement as I rolled out of bed this morning? Was there something on the welcome page that I should have looked at, before I got rid of it, when I logged in?

So, tell me about WoW - is their player-base abused as frequently and unrepentantly as SOE's? I think I could maybe overcome the fact that it is played by children by turning off world chat if only I could play uninterrupted occasionally
