Every time I enter that area I always hear combat. When I first played this game I rished over to see what the noise was and I saw this...

Every time this Barbarian spawns this elf kills him. Every single time. o_O

The funny thing is that Kaladenth isn't hostile to me and works just like any normal guard.

Is this a part of an old old quest or am I missing something?

Maybe they just have major differencies and can't respect each other?

I posted about that two months ago.. guess they still haven't settled their differences.

edit: Sorry, it was one year and two months ago. How time flies.

Perhaps an old old piece of a quest that got lost somewhere. Neither NPC says a word and the elf just keeps on killing that barbarian.

It looks like i'm not the only one...and it's never been resolved.

Hmm if no one can find out whay lets make up our own version for why they are fighting.

...that could be fun! ^_^

yes, I've seen him.

It's funny, he also killed the little dog (bwuahahaa)

I'm saying he's frustrated because he want to meet Antonia Bayle and he can't

Good news! The personal feud that had been brewing between Kaladenth and Tolar has been resolved. In an upcoming Hotfix you should see the following change called out in the update notes:

Guard Kaladenth no longer attacks his fellow guardsman, Tolar.

~Kaitheel

aww! what was the reason for the dispute? did he think he was some member of a notorious gang of thugs?

Vhalen would know the real story, meanwhile I blame Innoruk

Isn't it obvious? Tolar refuses to pay up the bet he lost over whether Lucan would get kidnapped or not, and he refused to pay up. Kaladenth was gonna get it from him one way or another, but just wasn't strong enough.

Hmm, actually they haven't ceased their fighting it seems. I've just entered the Elddar Grove to find Guard Kaladenth saughtering William and Guard Tolar.

Not even the Gods that be can end this feud...

Deffinately will watch for it.

I've actually seen the dog survive, which I thought was odd since I was under the impression the guard and the dog were linked, but when I stopped to watch this slaughter yet again, it seemed as though as long as the dog wasn't hit by an aoe from Kaladenth he wouldnt attack Kaladenth and after Tolar was dead (again) Kaladenth left him alone. Today I watched William get hit by an aoe cast by Tolar, attack Tolar, got hit by an aoe from Kaladenth and after helping to kill Tolar turn on Kaladenth. Something that I found really odd about this particular fight, was something I'd never noticed the two guards to do, when Kaladenth pathed close to Tolar within agro range and stopped, they drew their swords, saluted each other (the way you do when there's a blade in your hand - across your chest) and then proceeded to fight, though I wonder if it may have been a spell or combat art they were casting as their blades were glowing when they did it. It just struck me wierd at that moment and I thought to myself that at least they were being polite about it this time. lol

All I know is I definitely want to see "lore" for the fight, I have seen them fight as well. Might give some personality if they at least hurl insults at each other.

IMHO Elddar Grove is like New York's Central Park, it also connects some of the bedroom communities...although...WHY is the bell next to the Dojo(which could be bigger) instead of down in the Canal where that poor guard is so bored that he is naming the rats!?

I'm dimly remembering, weren't there incidents like this all over the various home cities when the Shard of Hate was first (re-)introduced? It's possible this may just be a holdover from that time...

In other words, I'm going with the Innoruuk theory.
