Can someone explain how to make a macro to switch gear?

I have heard ppl talking about this for years but never seen any reason to use it, until now.

Since PvE gear won't work with PvP, i'd like a macro to switch gear as fast as possable. even tho i can't switch gear in

combat.... .

You can easily equip your stuff using the socials menu. Open the macro window, create a new macro and choose "Equip item" (or what it is called in english ) then drag & drop the desired item into the empty field and choose the slot where you want to equip it.

Once done you can put that macro on your hotbars and use it from there.

Some items you dont even need to create a macro. I believe all items that only have one slot can just be put on a hot bar and clicked to replace what is currently in that slot. The jewelry, charm, and secondary ranged items will probably still need to be equipped by hand as some of them will fill the same slot and not the other slot. I haven't tried this specifically except for my shield and one handed weapon on my Berserker so I am not positive that this works on every armor slot.

Does anyone know how many steps you can have in a macro? I read elsewhere it's 24, but after 15 my adventure gear macro has decided to randomly break & delete steps. The one for changing into my crafting gear works fine, & has almost as many steps since they a swapping each other out. My adventure gear macro worked fine until I upgrade my primary weap & set the previous one as appearance. Then things started to fall apart. I tinker & rebuild it & it works fine for a little while, then I begin realizing I've just done a raid in parts of my crafting gear A +5 to artificing does nothing for my dps. Anyhoo, trying to get this sorted out once & for all, & not having any luck finding information on my problem. Hoping someone here can help. Thanks!

1.) Set your gear up on your toon how you wuld like to auto equip it.

2.) Goto your social tab as a user stated above.

3.) From the drop down choose "equip item"

4.) Drag the item to that spot of the macro.

5.) for wrist pieces , charms, fingers, ears there will be an addional drop down to choose "left" or "right"

You will see a graphic icon in the upper right hand corner - you can scroll right/left to choose an icon that matches the intention of your gear switch macro to make it feel/look more personal.

For instance I have several gear macros

1.) One is of a blue shield - when I click this I equip my full defense/block singe target tanking gear.

2.) Next mob an aoe fight? I click my dual axes and auto equip my aoe and MA gear for DPS tanking.

3.) PVP in the area or suspected? I click my red crossed swords hopefully before getting locked into combat to equip my pvp gear.

I keep some items such as differnet shields, weapons, and bows (pvp, underfoot for additional rnage, raid bow for + flurry) on a seperate hot bar to interchange as the situation calls for.

I know you the macro is at least long enough to equip an item in every spot.

Using the macro quickly and efficiently equips your gear. Just remember to add new gear to the appropriate macro. Set up each macro for a specif job but understand you may occassionally ahve to change 1-3 pieces of gear out of the macro at tims to complete a different job. I would avoid placing all your gear on hotbards - you will need that prcious hot bar space for pot cures, pot wards, signets, mana/health regen items and all other kinds of consumables to help you during your gaming experience.
