I've had Everquest 2 since 2009, and I have yet to play it. I'm installing it now and I'm trying to look online for what class I want to play.. I figured it would be easier to ask the forum peoples.

My favorite thing to do in an MMO is dungeons. I like being helpful in them and don't really like being a pure damage class. Any 'ol body can throw fireballs or swing a sword around. I kind of like healing, and that's what I usually do, but I heard that Everquest has CC/buff/support roles in it.. Which intrigued me. What would be the best caster class to play that's:

Not too hard to solo as

Welcomed into groups and not useless in them

Has cool and useful control and debuff moves

Fun to play with neat spells

I was looking at a EQ2 wiki and I found a class that sounds cool, but it doesn't really explain what their role is in a group. It's the Illusionist. I see they have a spell that creates a Reflection of you, or something, which sounds really cool. But is it practical?

PS. I won't be PVPing at all

EDIT: After looking at the Illusionist class some more, I know this is the class I wanna play. But are they good in dungeon groups and endgame stuff?

With that being said...

The Illusionist is an excellent choice. CC is not as prevalent at end game but there are a couple situations where it's usable. Buffing/Power Regen/DPS will be your focus.
