I had no trouble before the downtime.

Since EQ2 has come up the game does not recognize my keystrokes of the qwerty board all I get are random numbers in the text chat and the default keybinds will not open their respecive windows unless I click control. I can tradeskill using the numbers pad as per usual. but anything that takes using the qwerty part of my keyboard will not work properly

I have tried everything I uninstalled and reinstalled the game, took out my custom UI(ProfitUI) nothing works something you did broke the game for me and I can no longer communicate with folks not in my guild or if i'm on one of my toons that is not in a guild where I can use Voice and only wiht those of my guild mates who are in voice chat. I cannot go to the text chat channels or anything when I try to report the bug in game same thing happens. I am using a Dell QuietKey keyboard it is not USB. PLEASE HELP

Gonna post a reply here from the World of Warcraft tech support forums becuase it's affecting a lot of games including Rift. It's not necessarily a "new" problem either sadly.

If you aren't using Comcast/GuardedID, then I can't think of anything else. But this seems to be the main cause of an issue like the one you describe.

---

Keys not working. Comcast/GuardedID users

*sigh* Unfortunately GuardedID (GID) has been causing issues with games for some time now. : /Below are some nice workflows for disabling or removing the program.-------------------Toggling GID off before launching a game (Instructions courtesy of the official GID FAQ):"Before you launch these games , right click on the "G" in you system tray (bottom right) and "Exit" GuardedID. You will then be able to game with no issues. After you are finished gaming, go to start/run/programs/Guardedid and click on Desktop to restart GuardedID's Desktop protection."-------------------Prevent GID application from Starting Up 1. Click Start2. Click Run3. Type "msconfig"4. Select "Startup" tab5. Unchecked GID desktop application6. Press OK then reboot laptop.or Uninstall GID Application from Windows 1. Click Start2. Click Control Panel3. Click Add / Remove Programs4. Search for "GID" / "GID Desktop Application5. Select the item and select uninstall6. Reboot when uninstallaion is done.

-----

Personally I'd uninstall that crap immediately.

I don't install things, or leave them installed, that cause problems with my video games. Then again, I also don't really *need* GID installed. Kinda curious though as to why he'd insist on it being installed when it's just causing problems.

Ah well. I think the other option was to disable it when you run the game... which sounds like more of a pain in the neck than it needs to be.

Keyloggers aren't exactly *common*.

It's all good.

Apparently, according to the post I copy/pasted(written up by one of Blizzard's technical support staff) along with subsequent posts(that one is stickied, apparently they got a lot of calls about it ) is that it happens in a lot of games.

Not sure why. You'd think they'd fix that kind of thing no?
