View Full Version : Something is wrong with my Station launcher

I started up the EQII icon on my desktop and the station launcher (it's blue and white) comes up and does the usual. Then it began updating the launcher. When it finished it would start up the game normally. But it kept flashing some type of error. I couldn't read it because it wouldn't stay on long enough. Then it said connecting to remote manifest or something like that. The entire process began repeating itself several times.

I have an IMac 27" 64bit windows 7 and haven't had any difficulty in getting EQ2 started up prior to May 2, 2011. Hopefully it's just a minor glitch, but if there is something I can do (I am not a geek so please keep it simple), let me know.

Thanks.

That looks like the message.

Anyway, I uninstalled EQ2 and am in the process of reinstalling it again. So far I have 3.9GB of 12.4 GB downloaded after 4 and half hours so it's slow going.

I never use that card game anyway, so if it still does it after I reinstall the entire game again, I'll totally delete anything to do with that legends of norrath - that is, if I can find it.

Just find the LP_Temp folder (it has the underscore character - not the dash character) and delete it. I wouldn't delete the entire Legendsofnorrath folder - just find it and delete the legendsofnorrath.dll file thats inside.

There are no such folders or files called LP_Temp folder, LegendsofNorrath folder, legendsofnorrath.dll file. There was a Legends of Norrath file application. All the Sony files were in 3 different spots. Guess that's where windows put them when I downloaded the Velious expansion pack.

So, since I couldn't do anything, I decided just to reinstall the entire game which took like around 14 hours. I did finally get in, but noticed several things.

1. My launcher changed from the bluish station laucher which was rectangular in shape (vertically) to a large square brown launcher with several different windows inside the square box.

2. It did launch EQ2 except the opening video scene was totally black even though one could hear the story/sound.

3. When the opening video scene finished, there was a very small horizontal rectangle that was blue and the name EverQuestII on the top portion. In the middle was a bar that filled up showing it was loading something.

4. From there it went to the normal static painting or drawing of something while the zone loaded.

5. I'm in game now, but lost all my UIs and couldn't even do my normal /load_uisettings feature. So, I now have to redo each of my characters.

I don't know how many times, I've had to reinstall the game over the past almost 5 years, but it is extremely painful to do so, then to spend weeks to reset each of my characters with their individual UIs.

I use to use one UI setting for all the characters, but that constantly caused problems, so I reinstalled the game and from then on used separate UIs for each character (now 7) and never had those problems repeated again.

I don't know why every time I reinstall the game, I have to start over. I should think there would be some sort of way to do that but not go through all that additional time to reset everything.

I thank you for your advice, but there were no such files on my computer anyway.

Now, I have another problem. Just discovered the in game map has no information on it, nor a "path" button? So what do I do? Do I need to reinstall the game, again?

I am also getting the message: "There was a problem decompressing the file C:Program FilesSony Online EntertainmentInstalled GamesEverQuest IIlp_tempLegendsOfNorrathLegendsOfNorrath.dll_delt a_10509_126.gz."

I followed the instructions here, erasing both the lp_temp folder and the LegendsOfNorrath.dll file, and still my system is throwing the same error when trying to launch from the Station Launcher (which is still blue and vertical, as I have not reinstalled the game).

I am on a Windows Vista 64bit OS system.

Any thoughts?

My computer didn't even have those files, so I suspect it's connected to the bluish Station launcher. How? I have no idea. When I reinstalled EQ2, the blue launcher was replaced by a large square launcher that was black background and brown around edges with the EQ2 gold. It had three windows inside. One was the message center (Welcome Back stuff) another had a huge green bar that showed you were downloading something, then it turns into PLAY to click and continue into the game.

The only thing, was I lost my UIs and it wouldn't even except the /load_uisettings ......... and didn't recognize it, so I'm having to do the UIs all over again. The other thing is the map is different and has no "path" button.

If you have not uninstalled your Station Launcher, you can browse to your previous game folder by right-clicking on the icon you use to start the game and selecting Open File Location. Move up a folder and move to Everquest II or Installed GamesEverquest II. You can then copy your old UI files (any file with you character name on it and the UI folder itself) to your new installation which should be at C:UsersPublicSony Online EntertainmentInstalled GamesEverquest II (or Everquest II Streaming)

I reinstalled the EQ2map (windows 7 puts things where it wants), then I got another launcher - EQ2 Sentinal's Fate.

So, now I have 3 launchers - the bluish station launcher, the EQ2 Sentinal fate launcher and a big square box that is black with Sony Online Entertainment in the middle and brown on top with EveyQuest II at top.

I didn't touch anything. I just reinstalled when the bluish station launch didn't work like it always did.

As near as I can tell I have

c:program filessonystationlaunchpad ....................then it is empty from there

c: program files (x86)sonylegendsof norrathLONCSG which says it's an application

c:progoram files (x86)stationlaunch pad then inside that folder is a bunch of appl. XMLdoc and app extensions and a skins folder

c:program datasony online entertainmentinstalled gameseverQuest IIpublicsony online entertainmentinstalled games and next are two folders: one is everquest II and the second is Everquest II streaming

c:userspublicsony online entertainmentinstalled games everquestII more files

c:userspublicsony entertainmentinstalled gamesEverquestII streaming with same stuff that's in the one just above

ON top of that, my map is now unuseable. I downloaded the EQ2map updater from the interface site and windows 7 puts it where it wants, but when I go in game, no working map. So, do I just keep reinstalling it and change the browse window to each of the above locations until one works?

I have no idea which launcher and which map update is the right one or even where my old saved UIs are despite me looking every where.

And the map stuff just isn't working.

So, what do I do? Shall I just uninstall every thing I can find in a Sony folder, then start over again? This is getting very very painful. I know it will take me at least 7-10 days to reinstall the entire game from the very first Original discs, then go through all those patches from 5 years.

It all worked before May 2, why doesn't it work now?

Ok, still more hunting around. I figure it should be somewhere.

I found an EQ2 application that is blue icon with EQII in yellow. It's dated 10.7.2004. So, I tried that one and all my UIs appear as they should in game.

It came from C:program datasony online entertainmentinstalled gameseverquest II then a bunch of files and individual items.

I also found a Launch Pad application that is blue with a black circle and a blue arrow pointing to the right. That is dated 02.19.2008 I tried that one, but nothing happened.

So, my question is - it is OK if I just use the 10.07.04 EQ2 application in order to play? No launcher or anything like that isn't necessary, right?

At least this way, I have the game back the way it was and a working map. Is it ok that I move all the other files into the delete trash can?

Thanks.
