From what I've heard, the plan is to do away with Station Launcher and move everyone over to either the streaming client or Launchpad 3.

If that is the direction we're headed, are there any plans on adding in the character list to Launchpad 3?

With Station Launcher, I pick the character I want to play before I launch the game, then log directly in to that character.

With Launchpad 3, I have to wait for the character select window to load up, then pick the character, then log into that character.

Doesn't sound like a big deal but the time wasted waiting for the character select screen to load is time I don't have to waste with Station Launcher. It irritates me each time I'm waiting for it to load.

I posted this in the Support Forums but don't know if this is the right place for the right people to see it.

Thanks

LaunchPad 3 has always had a character list available. It worked for a majority of customers but there were some where it simply did not function at all, my home computer included. So the service was taken out until we can identify the issue entirely and restore it. The problem is that this is read directly from the server so we want to make sure there aren't bigger issues going on that some people are not receiving this data from the server.

The character select list will return when its fixed.

If it's still going to be a while, I think I'll just swap back to Station Launcher. I was being proactive since LaunchPad 3 was the plan going forward but after 3 months of having to take a detour thorugh the character select screen just to log in, it's getting quite old.

As for the character select list with LP3, it may not get re-added at all as our LaunchPad developers are nearing the release of the Non-flash based LaunchPad 4.

Do you know if it has a character select list? If so, I may just wait for it instead.

More information will be available as it nears the release.

Until then, a guildmate pointed out to me that I can create a shortcut using the command line bypass the character select screen using this format:

EverQuest2.exe cl_username username; cl_autoplay_world server; cl_autoplay_char charname

So far, it still makes me manually change the server name for some reason so there may be something wrong with my formatting. Even so, all I have to type in is the password and server name and it takes me into the game without having to go through the character select screen. So I can patch with LP3, then close it, then hit my new shortcut. That'll hold me over til LP4 gets here.

Thanks again.

Thanks! I'll take a look at it tonight.

Ynnek is the guildmate who pointed this out to me in the first place btw.

Just wanted to add in a direct link to our LaunchPad forum where you are more than welcome to post and discuss the LaunchPad, past and present, concerns directly with that development team.

[LP Forum]
