<p>In the past the game client has indeed been upgraded to support some newer graphical features. It's not a secret or unheared truth that this everquest 2 game client does not perform well at all compared to recent other games like here:</p><p><a href="http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/blog/2219878#blog" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/blog/2219878#blog</a></p><p>Reading the patch notes it states that this game was upgraded to support directX11 api and it can lead to a performance boost of 40%. There are ways to boost fps a lot but they are not in sync with the end user license agreement.</p><p>Really, it is about time that this game get's a proper graphical engine upgrade. At least make the game engine open source so that developers willing to invest a bit of effort can make this happen.</p>

At least make the game engine open source so that developers willing to invest a bit of effort can make this happen.</p></blockquote><p>to fully support directx 1 you need two things - a OS that supports it and a Video card that supports it, suspect that a lot of the players would not benefit from "direct x11 support" since they have cards that do not support the directx 11 hardware. as far as making the game engine "open source" that is something that will never happen. If you want the support then play WOW</p>

If you want the support then play WOW</p></blockquote><p>Weak arguments to justify not to support recent and coming software APIs in a living and continuous game.</p><p>The reference to the other game set in the same genre was meant as a comparison to show that these other game developing companies go that way to improve their product.</p>

<p>This forum is where I provide performance support.  If you are having latency, FPS issues, crashing, freezing, etc, heres the place to get your fix!</p><p>This is not an off-topic discussion board.  I am going to lock this thread up.</p>
