I have two characters that are stuck while zoning. While zoning into The Caves zone my client crashed and now I can't log into that character without the client crashing during loading. Same with the Crushbone zone. I have already deleted everything in the cache folder and it didn't help.

I'm having the same problem--tried entering Crushbone Keep earlier today, and the game crashed. Crashes everytime I try to play that character now.

Can you guys please confirm when you say "crash" that the entire game client is shutting down? Or are you just going linkdead and being put back at the character selection screen?

If the client is still running, its technically not a crash. Any details you can give will help us in finding the problem. If the client actually crashes, we will get a crash dump with lots of information.

Thanks!

It's a crash to desktop not linkdeath.

And here is the error message that Windows gives:

Problem signature: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: EverQuest2.exe Application Version: 1.0.0.1 Application Timestamp: 4db9fd41 Fault Module Name: EverQuest2.exe Fault Module Version: 1.0.0.1 Fault Module Timestamp: 4db9fd41 Exception Code: c0000005 Exception Offset: 0055230a OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.1 Locale ID: 1033 Additional Information 1: 0a9e Additional Information 2: 0a9e372d3b4ad19135b953a78882e789 Additional Information 3: 0a9e Additional Information 4: 0a9e372d3b4ad19135b953a78882e789

Ok, thanks for the additional info. An app crash is actually better for me because the crash logs will tell me more about what is going on than with a linkdead situation. Can you guys PM me the next time this happens? Include the exact time if you can and the actual name of your computer or your IP address.

I also am having the same problem now, and can no longer play my one and only character (which means that I have no reason to play eq2 any longer as I dont wish to create alts at this time)

However, I do not get an error message with windows, the eq2 log says:

05-01-11 11:05:49.256 1428 Error Connection::Read Disconnected: this=0x305-01-11 11:05:49.256 1428 Warning Service::CleanupDeadConnections Cleaning up dead connection: (*i)=0x305-01-11 11:05:49.256 1428 Warning Service::ShutdownSDK Service Initiated Shutdown: this=0x33b19c8

I did create a test alt to login, and verify that it is NOT my firewall (disabled, same problem) nor is it my router (directly connected to modem, same problem)

Looks like Sony has a lot of work to do to get the client to be stable.

I forgot to mention, I just finished installing windows 7 and all updated drivers, directly connected to modem, disabled firewall, still have same problem.

I noticed there are servers down, I wonder if the instance my character is trying to zone into is on one of the down servers. I will find out when they come up.

Sad welcome back to EQ2, played for 3 days and now cannot play at all.

I fixed it!

I logged in on another character, turned the graphics ALL the way down, disabled multi core support, shader 3.0, and everything I could, and it logged me back in

My system:

AMD BE 955 x4 (NOT overclocked) 8 GB Kingston ram (forget exact model) Asus m4atdevo motherboard

ATI Radeon HD 5770 (not overclocked at this time, although I usually max this card out and has never once given me a problem in any other game)

all temps monitored and nothing goes above 55 C

This strikes me as a shader 3.0 issue, and it seems like its happening in instanced / dungeon zones from what I read above.
