When it comes to the EverQuest franchise and designing tradeskills, Paul "Frizznik" Carrico is no noob. He's been working on SOE games since 2000 and has had a firm hand in the evolution of Norrath, both before and after the Shattering. He even spent a little time working on Free Realms. More recently, he has been doing great work on the mechanics team, including dungeon and battlegrounds design.

Being a game designer is an ever-evolving job, and often there are opportunities within a team to take the lead on designing different aspects of the game. After a recent shuffle of duties, Frizznik is now heading up Tradeskill Design for EverQuest II. EQII players who enjoy the tradeskill aspect of the game will likely remember him from the early days of EQII, and those whose remember Frizznik's previous work on tradeskills will be happy to know they are still in good hands.

But where did Domino go? Don't fret! She has taken on a new and exciting role with the EQII team as Associate Producer. We'll still be seeing her around as she helps Smokejumper keep the team organized and running full steam ahead, and generally lending a hand where needed.

Now, lets get to know Frizznik a little better!

Congrats so much on the new position, Domino. While a part of me selfishly doesn't want to "lose" your tradeskill TLC, you're leaving them in good hands. Welcome back, Frizznik!

~Mum

Domino, I can't think of anyone who is more deserving of a promotion than you. You single-handedly turned tradeskills around in this game, and I think you are pretty much universally hailed as the most beloved developer on the entire team (at least by your crafters <3)!

I hope you can do as amazing a job of reaching out to and understanding the whole of the player base as an associate producer as you did with us crafters. Good luck to you and Frizz!

Congrats on the new position. Now that you got the job, here is what you need to do. More of the crafting that appeared in DoV. GrandMaster spells -> with components being the original master + rares or something from an instance(master prices are like 30 plat a pop as it stands.. it'll bring back demand) Quests to obtain the individual recipes so not every joe shmoe can do it. If your gonna do spells , do weaponry/armor as well. As it stands MC armor is worthless usually. However, MC armor imbued with instanced rare drops could be useful. Rare worthwhile potions in a similar line to the blessed arrows revamp the tradeskill gear itself stop uniformly allowing any tradeskiller to manufacture things. Raid mobs drop chest. I get it. Despite it not making any sense sometimes. I.e. the mob has no appendages to open said chest to find their own goodies and place them in the chest. Strange stalker for example. Why not bring in game cohesion of tradeskill and raiding that you had back in tier 5!!! Raid drops simply will be made into the raid armor/items IF someone has a given recipe to make it. Recipes could be gained by ironforge (which a lot of us have) or other various tradeskilling factions. Then, the raid dropped loot is simply, glistening scale of blah or .. something else. (make them tradeable as well) Lastly, .. STOP making no-trade items that are not involved in quests. This isn't tradeskilling but it is a small rant. It makes no sense at all to say, oh ALL items in this zone are no trade (raid zone included) yet people will sit there in a group for 15mins auctioning things off for someone to zone in only to give it to them. I myself six box, so I don't mind making more money, however, i find it to be a complete undesired waste of time. A better thing to do is simply, make all items tradeable. Let it flood the market and let the FREE market dictate the given price. If everything was tradeable (raid zones included and NOT quested items that are "special rewards") then individual players would simply throw items on broker, .. raid guilds would throw items on broker, .. everyone would be using broker and no rediculous crap taking up chat channels for 4 hours at a time during raid times.

welcome and i will missed domino and good luck.

my simple request to ask Frizz,

hopefully to see new "dress window" for crafters, please.

and 2nd one, increase harvest nodes up to 5 pulls, those 3 pulls were too few and searching for other nodes too soon.

Very glad to hear Domino is moving up in directing the game direction! One thing I love about Domino is that she came in as a fan of the game and has grown the game in many ways! Domino, I hope you read R.A. Salvatore's work and gather some great ideas for the next expansion! Salvatore is a master writer for fantasy novels and I hope to see his influence carry forward in EQ2!

Also, welcome back to the tradeskill grind Frizznik =). I hope tradeskilling will continue to see a growing influence in the game. It's nice to see the new, almighty raid drops requiring crafters assistance in making as it brings back worth to the professions and makes us feel like we didn't waste all those hours!

Hope to see you both at Fan Fair this year!

Cheers!
