Same as any other Mage, since shared stats removed pet foci. You are no different than a Sorcerer or Enchanter now.

I would not place priority on PQ gear. I would place it on the Ry Gorr gear.

Properly adorned Ry Gorr gear (read: Crit Mit in the yellows) is more than adequate to begin raiding in and should net you somewhere in the 180's for Crit Mit. With 2 pieces of EM raid gear, and the rest Ry Gorr, my alt has 196 Crit Mit.

The other advantage to Ry Gorr is the class focus on a couple pieces.

Don't waste time or shards on anything less. Sure, if you happen to be LFG at 5 minutes before an hour, jump in a PQ and run it. If gear drops while running those instances to aquire shards, equip it. But focus on getting to the Ry Gorr level and you'll be a lot happier than if you waste a bunch of time trying to do something lesser.

Today I ran 4 PQs and got 3 pieces of armour, not too bad. Have to get to 90 to equip it, so by that time I expect I'll have a full set.

Th Ry Gorr armour might be better but sounds like it would take a long time to get and don't you have to run group instances?

Oh and I don't raid unless I have to for a quest. I just want to be able to solo 3-person heroic names like in the old days.

The ease of aquisition should tell you something about the overall quality of the gear . . .

I think he wants "best" gear from non-raid zones.

As I understand it, the progression is:

Faction merchant & PQ gear (includes Globe of Coalescing Shadows)Thurgadin gear (includes Frozen Shard of Magic)Ry'Gorr gear (includes Bloodied Remnant of Rage)Drunder gear (includes Aspect of War)Elements of War gear (presumably)

Gu61 is adding a lot of new quested gear from solo quests. I have no idea where it falls in progression wise, but I'd wager it's on par with Thurgadin gear.

This sems like a good writeup of Ry'gorr gear, I'm not sure it's 100% accurate anymore, but a good start for info.

Ry'Gorr

http://eq2wire.com/2011/06/16/eq2wi...rmor-jewelry/3/

Ok so as time has allowed I've been gathering the PQ gear and have most of the set, finding I can solo nicely with the CM on the gear but now it's time for adornments.

But here's where it get's confusing.

In the old days I'd just slap +INT onto everything, but I see 4 adornments that might be uiseful to me, can anyone let me know if they are going to be worth using:

Just white slot currently:

Ethereal Adornment of Intelligence (Greater) +27 INT

Ethereal Adornment of Magical Skill (Greater) +21 Disruption, Ministration, Ordination and Subjugation

Ethereal Adornment of Heightened Power (Greater) +40 Ability Modifier

Ethereal Adornment of Swift Casting (Greater) 3.8% Ability Casting Speed

So what's the best bang for my buck? Or should I use a couple of each across my gear?

Crit Mit doesn't help with solo'ing. It doesn't help with grouping until you are doing Throne of Storms or harder.

Not all adornment will go in any slot, so you are comparing apples and oranges. Adornments are just another means to an end. What you want is stats.

Cast Speed and Re-Use = 60-70% solo

Ability Mod = 500-700 solo

As much Potency and Crit Bonus as you can get. More more more.

Analyze your parse. Are you critting 100% of the time? If not, more Crit Chance. Nothing will kill your parse faster than lack of crit.

It still blows my mind that the game does such a poor job of educating people as to what the various mechanics are.

Thanks for all the tips and feedback on this. I get some information from guildies but I am the only one that really plays a Conj as thier main.

I am in the process of finishing up the Ry'Gorr gear now. Looking to get to the next step.

After RyGorr, you really have only two potential paths.

1. Join a Raid Guild. The gear you get from even the EM raids will make that RyGorr gear seem weak.

2. Own Drunder. There is some very nice Heroic level gear, in some cases very comparable to raid gear, available both by way of crafting and by way of drops in the four Drunder zones.
