Besides enervated updates and the fun rat camping in the hole.... does anybody play any of the SF zones anymore now that Velious is out and SF gear is completely crap? or is the crappy gear being fixed with GU60

It's not bad for XP grinding the quests compared to Velious. I'm strictly talking about the overland quests here, not the instances.

My guess is only four instances ever get done now 1. Cella, 2. ERH. 3. DB and 4. Library. We don't bother with 3 and 4 though. Just clear to where we need to for alts / new guys.

I am bringing all my characters through there to gain XP questing. It is actually quite nice now that the rush has gone through there

I'd run all the instances once for AA from the quests in them. With the new gear they're a lot easier than they used to be.

I have run the main character from my second account through a few of the quests. Mainly because thanks to drops from DoV my paladin main can pretty much one shot most of the mobs my other character needs for quests.

I usually do the crafting dailies because it is an easy 2.5 to 3 plat per character. I did ER updates over the weekend and it was a joke with new gear. And I usually run the Hole mark daily as well.

I liked SF a lot more than DoV.

With that being said, DoV is brutal on fresh level 86's. I went back to SF and finished off Stonebrunt to gain an extra level or two (and some AA's) before heading back to [Removed for Content] to continue questing.

SF is still really useful for levelling a new character to 90, as mentioned above. The portable pantry quests are awesome exp when soloquesting, and the solo MOBs in Stonebrunt have less than half the HP of equal-level MOBs in Velious. Also, the 4-5 quests you can complete on your first trip through the SF instances are great exp as well. Just last night I dinged 89 on my Inquisitor via a collection, so about 3% into the level, and after running Labs, Conservatory, and Outer Vault, I was 90 and had earned another 4 or 5 AAs for the trouble. Not bad cash, either.

I would also recommend that anybody who is interested in soloing really tough content, like heroic or epic MOBs, invest time in acquiring some Stonewill procs. They're amazing. It almost feels like cheating sometimes.

I wish people did it as I still have unfinished SF era heroic quests.

I'm sure I will. I just came back to the game after a very long absense. (Real life sometimes drags us away for a while) I disabled my account shortly after SF launched and never actually got to play the zone(s) so I'll play it mostly because I never have.

Why? Is it really bad?

With itemization and stat changes that came along with Velious, the loot in SF is now almost universally worthless, unfortunately. The only pieces that retain even marginal value are those with procs that you can't replicate with Velious gear, such as Stonewill, Blood Ritual, and such. I suppose some end-game raid items may still be somewhat useful, such as stuff from Underfoot Depths or 4-Rune Theer, but I never had that, so I can't comment.

So while the content in SF was actually fairly fun for the most part, there really isn't any significant rewards for completing it, anymore. Except in the case of collecting marks to buy yellow/red adorns if you don't have enough velium shards, yet.

With the recent changes to stats and new DoV armor, I find that my duos can now get thru most of the SF content. Of course, there are still some encounters that are quite tricky for only two people (and some that will remain impossible for a time yet) but since I never ran many of these places before it's pretty much all new content to me

Again, I have no concerns about loot - I pretty much transmute it all, I don't think it should compare at all with new expansion loot - although if the T9 LS/Everfrost loot requirements were adjusted to level 85 (or even lower) they'd be nice upgrades for anyone prior to going to DoV.

I will take my toons through it as they level. I like that expansion.

After I got my very low AP toon to 90 and had acquired a fullset of PQ gear, I went through SF and SBH quests (to get AP) without much issue. The SF zones still great for AP, and the DoV gear (with brokered/DoV quested jewelry to boost Crit Chance to/past 100%) makes survivability high.
