any idea how long the sites are going to remain down? It's been over a day already. I'm trying to send referals to friends who would like to try out eq2 but since the sites are all down, it's not possible.

I'm wondering the same here, but I've sent referals (prior to the site going down) to some of my friends who cant access them until the site is back up. I'm afraid that this is not giving them a good first impression.

I have been wanting to play Everquest 2 since thursday, but sadly, I can't. I would love it if someone could direct me to somewhere I can download EQ2 Extended, because I can't get to the website.

Tried the site this morning and it was still down. I know SOE is going through some re-structuring. I wonder if this is cuasing all the issues I am having of late. Been playing EQ and eq2 combined for over 12 years and I have never had as many issues with Lag,Crashes as I have lately. Dunno whats going on but it's not good.

Have never seen a site go down for this long without any explanation and the maintenance message wore thin several days ago.

<span style="font-size: 9.0pt; font-family: "Verdana","sans-serif"; color: black;">I'm surprised no one has commented ANYWHERE about why the website is down. Anonymous DDOSed Sony a couple of days ago over the legal dispute with Geohot. It's funny how SOE is playing it off as "emergency maintenance" and aren't commenting further. It seems most of their sites are back up except for EQ2, but only a few days ago ALL of Sony's sites were down due to the attack. Way to step up and keep us informed, SOE.

They have commented on forums for other games like Free Realms, EverQuest, etc. In addition to web sites, the Playstaiton Network has been offline. It has nothing to do with DDoS attacks, but an actual breach of their security. Given how incredibly bugged their web sites such as EQ2Players is, It's not really surprising they've fallen victim.

http://forums.station.sony.com/eq/p...topic_id=175908

http://www.freerealmsinsider.com/fo...l-21-0-a-37622/

http://www.tomsguide.com/us/PSN-Dow...news-10939.html

The later news story, saying Anonymous was not involved with the incident.

It's better they keep everything down while they investigate how they were compromised and to what lengths, than allow attackers in again with possible access to our private information such as passwords or other account details.

Sadly, I'm guessing EQ2Players will still not actually work fully when things do come back online.

EQ2Players should be functioning as it was prior to the interruption in our services.
