My question is does anyone know what -134 of a stat is "worth" on a level 90 mob? The answer to this depends on what the actual value of the stats are on the mobs I know... but do we the players have any method to tell?

If I had to guess that if players are now built like mobs, then heroic mobs have 2200 on the main stat, solo mobs have 1400 on the main stat, X2 mobs have 3000 on the main stat, etc. as ballpark figures.

If that's close to true, then one could use the tooltip on a character's main stat to see how much DPS is lost when you unequip an item to find out what -134 is in "anti-DPS" effectiveness on a 90 mob.

_ _ _ _ _ _ _

I understand mobs have stats like players do and that different teirs and quality of mobs (solo, heroic, X2, X4, name/trash, mob type, etc.) have various base stats.

So I'd imagine fighter type mobs (like alot of the giants) have some high STR scores and -134 STR off that would reduce their damage output from melee attacks.

Caster mobs probably are vulnerable to -134 INT to reduce their damage output.

Healer mobs are obviously vulnerable to -WIS debuffs stacked on them to reduce their output.

Scout mobs are likely vulnerable to the -AGI debuffs stacked on them to reduce their output.

All mobs' "hit points" are vulnerable to -STA debuffs.

I think debuffs would be less opaque if players had a mechanism to understand what % -HP's or what % -DPS any particular debuff (class CA/Spell or item proc) was actually worth... Intuitively, I feel that -134 STR on a mob makes tanks take less damage for instance but I have no idea what -% DPS I actually slapped on the mob...

Anyone divine this information out of the game yet?

It's possible to tell by looking at the description of a DoT (or sometimes a buff on the mob) and seeing how the description changes after you apply your stat debuffs. They can make a pretty significant difference.

Also depends on the class of the mob.Str debuffs do nothing on a mob that is a "mage" class.Likewise Int debuffs do nothing on a "fighter" mob.

So not only do you need to investigate the power of the debuff, but the class of the mob so you know which debuffs are actually effective.

Even my T9 debuff class spells are the same value's when AA'd out. I just can't understand why DPS mechanics are so quantifiable but anti-DPS isn't as readily quantifiable.

It is, most likely, completely impossible to tell what the value of any fixed stat debuff amount will be. Follow me down the trail of dangerous assumptions a bit here.

We assume, since Devs refuse to give us any clue at all, that mobs use the same sort of stat curve that players - ie the value of their stats are not linear. Thus, depending on exactly where any particular mob is within it's stat curve, the value of a fixed debuff could be radically different.

Following further down the rabbit hole, as more debuffs are applied, the value of that fixed debuff further changes as the mob is pushed further and further into the curve.

EQ2: Where obfuscation isn't just a word, it's a way of life!

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ^^^^^^

Yeah, I agree.

Solo mobs with 1 person that may debuff something vs a Heroic mob where a person of the 6 person group might debuff a mob or the raid mobs that probably will get a ton of stacked debuffs loaded on them and the effects of each proabably vary wildly based on the stat curve of the mobs.

It's probably hidden since debuffs are likely overpowered or underpowered in certain scenarios and they don't want to have to hear the /rage fix mechanics that are really meant for situational use as their time would be better spent elsewhere, like DOV itemization.
