Some of you may have wondered what could have been...Since I'm new I have yet to see the entire game, but what if this game would've turned out to be as popular as WoW did, imagine the content with all the new devs that would be hired. It would be cool, but the community aspect would have been ruined.

I've noticed more and more newbies in my start area are from WoW, tired of the crap. I'm glad to see this.

I hope you're right, though I think your enthusiasm is biasing you a tad. It is certainly nice to see a new player that is enthusiastic about the game.

Rift has taken such a number of WoW players that different WoW forums actually ban all mention of Rift, lol.

I'm not suprised that a few have wandered into EQ2 as well. I just hope they're the few actually nice ones instead of the usual WoW populace horror show. You'll know they're here when they start demanding dps and gear score mods.

Immature, offensive, childish punks. That and the fact there was so much spam and hacking it was crazy.

I hope they stay - will be better for the EQ2 playerbase.

You get the good with the bad, fact is every MMO has people with nerd rage and zero social skills. WoW and other games with way more subs than EQ2 seem worse because people like that are more vocal, but it isn't like we don't have that here heh. WoW players aint lepers or something, its silly to lump such a huge number of people into a category like that.

It goes both ways. I know quite a few Rift players who wish the WoW players would smeg off.

because EQ2 has a more 'mature' playerbase it is 'self policing/correcting' to some extent , the more 'obnoxious' players tend to get shunned/ignored and eventually give up/get bored and leave.

I have recently returned to EQ2 after an extended stay in WoW. What I have found is the game closest to the ideals of what I expect an MMO to be in EQ2, and have decided to cancel all other game accounts so that I may focus exclusively upon this one. I have also found that EQ2 has improved so much since my original play period, that I have begun talking it up to my friends (something which I have rarely ever done in the past.)

So, is EQ2 making a comeback? I don't know as I have no empirical evidence to support or deny that statement.

I can, however, say with utmost certainty that EQ2 has made ME come back, and I'm loving every damned minute.

Yeah i wouldnt call it a come back its been a steady jog lol.

The playerbase is mature when comparing it to the likes of WOW and that helps keep people on EQ2. I hated some of the things that were going on in WOW, so annoying. But saying that it has a massive subs base so fair play to them, i mean 11.5 million people cant be wrong....................or can they

There are more new people playing these days, i have helped several new people on Splitpaw server. Some convert over from EQ2X and others have fled the likes of WOW etc. The thing is with EQ2 is that the game is that lush, the play base is so friendly and helpful that it tends to be able to keep its players.

While I would not call it a "come back" I will say I am delighted at seeing new and returning faces!

Folks who haven't left need to remember to practice patience and provide support. Our Guild has some folks who have never played an mmo..never played EQ2 or are returning after a long ways away - and boy have things changed!

We try to help them out, group with them as our schedules allow and provide as much support and information as we can, and don't make them feel "noob". Nothing drives folks away faster that disinterest or distain from those who won't take the time to remember they were once new too. And come on..EQ2 has a ton of stuff to do and learn!

Word has it that EQ2 Live is top heavy, but I don't buy that. With the active alts folks have, all the new people coming in as well as those returning, there are plenty of folks to group with and many Guilds happy to welcome in those folks in. Many of them are willing to do older content to help those folks along and re-experience that content from a new perspective.

EQ2 has a great community overall. I won't pre-judge anyone joining in no matter what game they come from. Time will show their true colors, but everyone deserves a chance.

So welcome to all you new folks and welcome back to those rejoining us! Fun times ahead! Enjoy!

I'd like to think that some day people would give EQ2 a 2nd chance. Unfortunately, I feel they overthought every aspect of the game at launch, and have never been able to recapture the lost momentum. It's truly depressing to pull up the server status page and realize there are only a dozen servers left.

For all we know servers may handle a bigger load these days and there is no need to have mass servers running. I think they call it streamlining?

Servers are too expensive, we're hoping to see the Vanguard servers from 2006 get repurposed as an upgrade when that game shuts down. Fortunately, computer technology hasn't advanced since then.
