Hiya,

I've been playing Irving almost every day since December 2009. I made 90 Coercer today, and my new goal is to improve him significantly. My main concern is I feel I do really low DPS.

He is level 90.

He has 234 AAs.

General stats

Crit Chance: 127%

Crit Bonus: 82.2%

Potency: 79.8%

Ability Mod: 321

21,673 HPs

22,698 Power

I have all Ruination gear in my clothing spots and my weapon. I'm working on the Coldain Ring quest series now to improve the rings. I have the Flowing Black Sash. Everything else is pretty much drops pre-90. You can see my crappy gear here.

What should I do to improve the gear? Hit me with a clue bat, please.

I have 234 AAs. I spent them where it made sense to me knowing my class so well (playing it every day for 1.5 years). But obviously I'm not doing it right because I think my DPS is so poor. Are there any tricks to spending AA?

I haven't spent any adornment slots, so those are wide open for improving stats.

Please help me improve my Coercer so he's more useful to my parties!

Thanks!

Hello,

just a little hint. Go get to the inis at DoV, your crit and crit bonus including potency will raise up allmost instant.

With some ini gear and more aa points you get way more dps (and will survive much longer).

As first step, i would suggest you to put crit mit where ever you can put it

so long

Zergosch

The best thing you can do is run Ascent everyday untill you get all the mage gear from there. The codex drops from the shardhammer named and the other secondary item drops off the final named. The necklace from first named and the belt from the second name combined with the other drops will get you over 200% crit chance.

When you get 278-79 AA's you can respec for the psychic trauma endline from the heroic tree and comined with hostage should increase your dps alot.

To improve your dps in DoV in a nutshell for a non-raider.

A full set of Ruination gear is good. Instance gear is a little better as far as armor goes.

Replace your weapon, symbol and charm slot items with high crit chance items. 100% crit is no longer 100% crit. In instances you will notice that most mobs now have a permanent buff that gives them both crit chance and crit mit. The crit mit buff automatically reduces your crit by the amount shown. If you're not critting 100% of the time you're dps is going to be garbage. Shoot for a minimum of 160-180 for group zones though there will be times that you will need more. You can adorn several pieces of gear with easy to get greater white adorns that give you 3.8% crit if put on your cloak, symbols etc.

Grind faction quests with Othmir, Snowfang and Rygorr till you can buy their items unless you have something better from instances.

Go to eq2flames.com and read the "stickied" items on the coercer forum. Do not post unless you wish to have your psyche crushed by raiders. The casting priorities they have there are a good start.

Thanks all. In asking questions of others and doing research, I also found that +potency and +crit bonus were extremely important.

So I'm running DoV instances with PUGs as often as I can, and while I haven't gotten a single mage drop yet, I'm working on it
