I love flying mounts, especially when leveling up a new toon. Makes it fresh and fun! I know it has been stated that flying mounts would remain a high level item, which is understandable.

How about putting in a flying mount rental service? There is a lot of options you could do with this. Perhaps rental vendors in each major city that give you a flying mount for a day, for a fee of course. Or flying mount rentals per zone, with flying mounts themed to each zone.

This would allow low level players the ability to use flying mounts from time to time if they have the coin, while still keeping permanant mounts a high level only feature.

Thoughts?

In game coin is what I would much prefer. Vanguard has a flying mount rental system, however it is only limited to 5 minutes, which to me is way too limited.

Playing my army of alts has become even better with the flying mount promotion. I have ran through TD, DLW dozens of times and to be able to fly has made it so much more fun I am having a blast.

I haven't used the marketplace up till now other then claiming this promotion. I would purchase a flying mount if the y put them on the marketplace-that is how much fun I am having with them for all my alts.

Was thinking of VG here too. It has a really nice system with the temp rental flying mounts, they are slower, cost a little bit of money, and it is cool getting around on your alts. So since our new "bell" travel system is identical to VG's, why not incorporate this too? :p

EDIT: fixed all the past-tense. Even though that game is pretty much past-tense now. /sadface

BTW, Test server has lost its SC marketplace since the latest patch, and can't play with the free SC griffin mounts right now. Any chance that could be fixed before the promotion is over?

I have been an outspoken person against station cash but I will admit that I would buy a flying mount in a heartbeat. As someone with Altoholicm I am constantly running back through zones and having this bird has made questing more fun than I have had in years. I have logged on more in the last few days than in the last few weeks.

Thanks to whoever had this idea!!!

p.s. My wife says thanks and would buy one on her account as well.

Even if it requires us to jump through multiple hoops and travel to the ends of the earth I think its a great system, and in practice then it'll also mean that people will be likely to just purchase things they want for their alts after achieving the big quest on their mains.

So far they did do that for me with ZUA, the mount in there is hard to get, but it is there, and its up to us to get the free one, that's perfect to me, I loved how some people were seriously motivated from the start to go for it.

But on this change Smokejumper is leaving us guessing as usual, but I have a feeling its not marketplace related, we'll see I guess

If they do sell the mounts on SC, the player will have to be 86+ otherwise your going to have to put in a new flying mount quest for the lower levels. (1). If you don't, your just essentially power selling simply because those at the lower levels with mounts are losing so much time for questing etc etc, and to just see someone who tossed $25 on one fly by finishing quests at twice the persons speed without one would be absolutely cheap.

Sorry If the wording is weird in that, didn't make sense to me either.

[Player One] - Pays Subscription - Quests at 1x Normal Rate

[Player Two] - Pays Subscription - Throws out another $25 for Mount - Quests at 2x Normal Rate

Money shouldn't be the basis of how quickly you can progress in the game.

Make it a quest, or don't do it at all.

Unless they decide to run Sword of Destiny or something just because, they could completely skip a huge number of zones without any penalty.

I think that's what made me consider this argument pointless anymore. You spend weeks getting the best of what T8 gear exists, and it's trash when T9 launches, then that new gear is again when the next expansion is released, so all that time chasing gear or spells, can be bypassed by a new player because it's useless at end game. The mythical weapon buff and mastery strikes are the only things that stay with you as anything more than potential house items or skill list filler.

But when "sword of much sharpness" appears on the marketplace for $5 I am, its easy to see such items become mandatory for players by altering the game design to stimulate item sales, thus corrupting the game I enjoy.

Right now the balance of cosmetic items is good, although imo it would be perfect if they all had an ingame route.

The potions are in no way cost-effective because they are temporary.

It'd cost a player figure $200+ to get a character from 0-90 0-300 using the potions which is why nobody buys them outside of double EXP weekends.

Personally I'd like to see a free 'claim' mount available to alts after at least one toon has completed the high level quest. Not only is it highly conveniant for alts after you've put in the time once, but this week has been sooo much fun for my kids and their low level characters. lol My 5 yo son flew around swooping and nosediving to his hearts content and my 9 yo daghter must have "bought" a hundred of the things trying to match the color to her Fae's various outfits. heh
