I looked through the how to log into test server post; however, I did not see a way to log in via the streaming client. I don't want to reinstall the whole test server just to test the houses out.

For the streaming client, you should just need to click 'options' on the patcher and then set the drop-down menu to 'Test'.

Not on the main screen, not on the options screen. Not in the regions pull-down either, there's three readable ones (English, French and German I believe), one that looks like Cyrillic (probably the Russian region), and a final one that's just 3 boxes (possibly bad Unicode characters).

Same issue. I do not see Test Button or any drop downs with "Test Server". How would one go about getting onto the Test Server? Are there any links?

Any answer? is this thing still on? Im also having the same issue, did the 'download it all' 12 GB installer thing and now i dont have any test folder, test server option on the pulldown, nor a test server button in the upper left. Curious, how many launchers are there? do we REALLY need more than one? Id be happy to download a new launcher like the station launchpad, except doing exactly that is what bricked my laptop. Not kidding, you guys couldnt fix it either, I had to tear down to fresh OS install cause eq2 bombed the thing. look it up, im too lazy to post it for you and if i even peek at that thread again ill punch my monitor. Needless to say, this is getting kinda rediculous, and im not gonna brick my desktop just so I can test stuff free for ya. Mabye this is why nothing gets out of alpha before launch. If you fix anything, ever, fix the test server LOL.

The Test option appears on the screen after you select the English-US server option. It will not appear for selection of English-EU. I know this because I play on both Splitpaw and The Bazaar. As Domino said, the Test option is in the upper left-hand side of the second screen.

The Windows Data Execution Preventer seems to think this is malaware and keeps shutting it down.

Nope, no button, no pull down, all the right options set, no joy. Check it out, and please, if you see the button, feel free to point it out.

That is not the launcher I use. That must be something new. To find the default (old?) launcher you need to look inside your EQ2 folder, find EQ2.exe and send a shortcut to your desktop. on my computer the file is located at:

c:/Sony/everquest II/Eq2.exe

Or use the Station Launcher.

I'm using the streaming client for the test server. Since the GU60 update the .exe says "EQ2 GM Client (FOR INTERNAL USE ONLY)". The client also takes a few minutes to launch, before the update it worked normal. Is this somehow related?

It does not have any option or method to launch any forms of Test Server. The other launchers are being phased out and will no longer be supported soon.

Can we get LP3 fixed and compatible with Test Server please?

This could be a problem, I very happily use eq2.exe and have no plans whatsoever to change to any other form of launcher, whether streaming or not. In fact I will be avoiding a streaming launcher like the plague.

Just like I refused to use windows for years, because I didn't need it, the same will apply here.

I am sure that a lot of older players will feel the same way, why change something that isn't broken.

One way to bring back the original launcher would be to force all SOE employees who play EQ2 to use the new launcher

Makes perfect sense to me.

As far as avoiding windows, seems a bit odd, considering the benefits of windows greatly outweighed any drawbacks it had, from a coders point of view, but too each is own, I just hope you have indoor plumbing at least by now. I have a Uncle that is stubborn like that, he cant tell you why he wont use something but he can talk you ear off for 30 hours on how he hates change and progress.

Well, when Velious launched, the new launchers where not working properly on EU servers. I patched my US launcher 1, copied the files, and launched the game, and then I saw the few people around trying to fight with patchers. It took 3 days, and Storms server players where confused. I saw most players running around trying to find a working launcher, screaming on new launchers downloading stuff elsewhere and other things like that. In short: lots of confusion. And I saw that day that most players where still using Launcher 1, despite it being unavailable for two years or so...

This story should be an example for SoE: don't phase out Launcher1, let us use it or your whole servers will be a real mess.

As to why I didn't need to use Windows whne it came out, I had a lovely accounting package, that I used that could run Word and Lotus123, and I could switch between the 3 easily. I logged straight into the accounts package, and so didn't need anything else.

Yes, I use windows, don't have much choice, but find Vista a pain as it isn't backwards compatible, if I'm honest prefer xp, but that wouldn't run some of the newer stuff. So have xp drive and a vista drive, have a hell of a lot more stuff on the xp drive that is half the size of the vista one.My EQ1 is on my xp drive, and Eq2 on Vista, so a switchable launcher not needed by me at present.

Change is fine, but I live by "If it ain't broke don't fix it", but I will admit that as far as Sony is concerned it seems to be if it is broke don't fix it, but instead lets break some more stuff fixing stuff that isn't broken, lol.

Can they pls look at the aggro ranges at the spires again?

The RUMOR that the other launchers are being phased out is False. According to the developers, the standard launcher and streaming launcher will always coexist. I use the original launcher on my desktop, and the streaming client and launcher on my laptop. I'll never use the Station launcher due to its inherent security risks (I don't like having to type my password every time I log in).

That said, to get to the test server you need the latest streaming launcher. Do Not Use the link on the forums under Calling All Testers to get the streaming client!!! It currently points to a VERY old version of the installer. Go to Everquest2.com, mouse over Get the Game' at the top, and select Download Game at the bottom of that 'dropdown'. You'll get a button asking if you want to Download the Game as an existing subscriber. Click it.

You'll get a page with two different download buttons on it. One for the Full game (regular launcher) and one for the Streaming client. This is the current Streaming client you need. If you have problems with the installer, make sure you have Internet Explorer set as your default browser. Opera browser, for example, will report the wrong Flash version (Flash for Opera has a different version number). The streaming installer will take care of updating Flash for IE.

Once everything is installed and working, the upper left corner of the launcher will sport an 'Options' button. Clicking that brings up an Options window with a Regions drop down box at the top. Click the dropdown arrow, and you'll see a bunch of language/region choices. You'll have to scroll down to see the last one - Test Server!

Select Test Server and then click the odd double up arrow button at the bottom (Kinda looks like this « turned clockwise). Now you'll most likely see that the Play button has changed to Update (since the Test server is updated so often). You've done it! Streaming client on the Test Server!

Have fun!

The prblem with the new launcher that thye are unwilling to admit to is you can't dual box on the same machine with it. You try and it says it is already running. This is garbage. Fix it so you can log into multiple accounts and I will consider it. Otherwise let us use the old launcher.
