When I download the streaming client, it wants to install it in:

C:UsersPublicSony Online EntertainmentInstalled GamesEverQuest II Streaming

When I recently petitioned for a problem, however, the tech supporter said that my EQ2 files should be located in my /program files area.

Where's the best place to install the EQ2 streaming client?

SYSTEM: Windows 7 64-bit.

(Meaning, I have both a /program files and a /program files (x86))

It won't let me install it in the /program files (x86) folder.

We've released a few different patchers over the lifetime of our games. The default install path for the current LaunchPad is best and that is the UsersPublic path.

Thanks, very good to know I'm not doing something wrong.

What if I install EQ2 off of the discs? (I'm planning on buying the DoV expansion in a retail store, and perhaps just doing a fresh install.) Would it also be best to put it in the /users/public folder?

So after another (unrelated) problem with my computer's clock, I had to do a fresh install of Windows 7 and of course a fresh install of EQ2 came shortly thereafter. (Gotta get those priorities straight =P)

Anyway, this time I decided to install off of the Sentinel's Fate retail discs. This is how I originally aqcuired the game, so I figured it'd work again.

Installing off of the SF discs went fine, and first update/playtime went great. When the Station Launcher tried to update the game today, however, I get an error and freeze at about 48% scanned. (The Station Launcher was automatically installed, it didn't give me a choice to use the EQ2 launchpad.)

I've heard a lot in the rumor mill about SoE cutting away the Station Launcher in favor of the EQ2 launchpad, althoug I've been unable to track down any official post here. My question is: What should I do? Is there any way to install off of the SF discs, and still use the Launchpad? Can the Station Launcher be fixed? Should I just download it off of the EQ2 website? (My wireless internet is horribly bad about downloading, so I'd really prefer to install from CD if at all possible.) Also, when I eventually buy the DoV expansion discs and install them, will it auto-use launchpad, or has it been reconfigured?

I would recommend downlaoding our latest LaunchPad and letting it download the game for you. Station Launcher is, in fact, being phased out but it hasn't reached the last leg of its life just yet. We are still repairing large, game breaking, issues on our end but when it comes to technical support troubleshooting, we'll recommend you use our LaunchPad instead.

[EQII] LaunchPad
