You ask your customers to make the transition over to the new launchpad, but it does not work for quite a number of us.

I'm re-installing EQ2 today because apparently it seems that after that patch to fix Necretia's bow and the server/client side file version mismatch saga, I suddenly have graphics and freezing up problems which I initially did not have.

So now I've deleted my EQ2 folder, downloaded both the streaming and full install, and both of them just simply hang at the start up screen. I get a black square in the middle, and if I'm lucky, I get an SOE logo.

I've also tried clearing browser cache, enabling firewalls etc and it still stays there.

So what's the solution now?

These are network security related errors.

Heres some steps you need to cover for LP3.

Disable any and all running Antivirus/Firewalls, including but not limited to security suites such as McAfee, Norton, AVG, NOD32, etc...

You may need to further configure your router as the port information may have changed from the previous methods. I've included a KB article that outlines this process in its entirety. Bypassing your router and connecting directly to your modem can identify if you need to further configure your router or not. If bypassing your modem allows you to play without these errors then you'll need to setup port forwarding on your router in order to play while using it.

[EQII] Firewall and Proxy Information for EverQuest II

Make sure you are launching the LaunchPad as an Administrator by right-clicking your new EQ2 game icon and selecting Run as Admin.

Im using Windows 7 so I'm not exactly sure where I can go to change all these settings.

The only firewall which Im using is the one that comes with 7 and that just simply allows me to allow/block programs. No specific ports etc.

As for the kb article, it only mentions the specific ports which EQ usually uses, doesn't tell me where I can go to check if the settings are correct etc.

So now, I'm still stuck with the same problem. Launcher not patching/loading. And my EQ2 folder is still at 1.7mb (hence proving that nothing was downloaded in the background).

On the other hand, I managed to get my hand on an older version of the station launcher and it is patching as we speak. I've managed to get (i think) 99% of the game downloaded. However, when I open the launcher and it does it's usual file scans and stuff I get an error pop up that says "There was a problem confirming the size of the file C:StationEverquest2lp_tempUIDefaulteq2ui_newcharsc ene2.xml. Please try again. If the problem persists use the Help menu above for more info and help.

Station launcher will try again after 30 seconds."

Done full file scans hoping that it would be picked up and re-downloaded, but to no avail.

Sigh, I just wanna play the game.

I suggest you continue to use the latest LaunchPad, not the older Station Launcher.

For your firewall, I suggest disabling it altogether. For the port information with your router, we do not support the use of routers so the best I can do is give you the information in that KB article and you'll need to research how to do it yourself. What we can suggest in that regards is bypassing your router altogether and plug directly in to your modem.

EQ II Firewall Information:

Sony Online Entertainment does not support the use of firewalls and proxies, including cable/DSL NAT routers, campus and office networks, or any type of Internet connection sharing services. However, in an effort to assist you in configuring your systems on your own, we would like to provide the following information which may help you in setting up your firewall to work with EverQuest II.
