<p>Hello,</p><p>Since fews days, after playing about 20 minutes to Everquest II, NPCs start to have pattern troubles on theirs armors.Then wooden chests are taking strange aspects and horses have a very decorative pattern, but obviously a wrong one.</p><p>Gating at this time to a new zone show me items in a very bad shape. Ugly, badly drawed and even a /camp doesn't return to a clean Character selection screen: the houses behind in the picture seem to be somewhat damaged too, lkie they were taken from some very low resolution, or the drawing was unable to be completed.</p><p>I use Shaders 3.0 and have DirectX 11 installed with Windows 7 - 32 bits, on a PC with 4 GB of Ram.My video card is a Geoforce 8800 GTS 320 MB (with nvidia 266.58 then updated to 267.24 drivers (dated from February, 2011)), and I suspected my card could be damaged as it was old.</p><p>I bought a brand new card: 460 GTX OC PNY with 1 GB ram and Windows 7 installed the latest 267.24 nvidia drivers again for it.</p><p>The problem in EQ 2 still occurs.CPU and GPU don't go over 50°C in temperature.</p><p>Have you an idea of the cause of my troubles?</p><p>Regards,</p><p>Sargonnath.</p>

<p>It could be file corruption so we'll go through the steps to clear that up first. Another thing that may not be the direct cause, but there is the possibility, is the fact that you now have a total of 5GB of physical memory (your 4GB RAM and 1GB VRAM) while the 32-bit OS addressable memory space limits you to 4GB total. Depending on what else you are running, you may run in to situations where you run out of memory or experiences issues that can be attributed to missing or corrupt data while in memory.</p><p><p>You may want to make backups and then delete the following files and folders:</p><p>cache folder</p><p>eq2_recent.ini</p><p>eq2_default.ini</p><p>EverQuest2.exe</p><p>eq2.ini</p><p>As well as the character specific files, these will appear as such:</p><p>Servername_CharacterName_EQ2_uisettings.ini</p><p>Stationname_characters.ini</p><p>To do this, please follow these directions:</p><p>1. First look for your EverQuest II directory. You can find the default directory in (for Windows XP): C:Program FilesSonyEverQuest II (for Windows Vista/7): C:Program DataSony Online EntertainmentInstalled GamesEverQuest II</p><p>2. Click on MY COMPUTER and then proceed into local disk C:</p><p>3. Navigate your way to the default directory, or your chosen installation directory.</p><p>4. Next look for any files explained above and delete them. </p><p>5. Afterwards, please start EverQuest II to have these files re-downloaded by the patcher.</p><p>If deleting these files does not resolve your issue, you can restore your backed up files and folders and retain your hotkeys, contact lists, and display settings.</p></p>

<p>This sounds like the Zek corruption bug with shader 3.0, it does not "fix" itself until you reboot, eventually the corruption gets so bad all the flora dances backwards and forwards (with weird textures, looking closely they are made up of items etc, so I'm guessing a pointer somewhere is corrupted!).</p><p>If you stay out of the Zek zone do you still get it?</p><p>By the way - does it look like <a href="http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/posts/list.m?topic_id=498095" target="_blank">this where someone else posted some screenshots</a> elsewhere on the forums</p>

<p>I do believe that while symptoms can differe that a majority of these issues are caused for the same reasons. These are reasons being investigated, eliminated, and prevented as much as possible as they are reported, discovered, or introduced with new updates etc. This particular problem is a difficult one because we have not been able to reproduce it yet without using some very damaged machines. </p><p>In your EQ2 game folders, do you have an asset_cache folder or do you have a PAK folder? If its a pak folder, could you go in and delete the VPK files for the zone you experience the issue? If its the asset_cache folder I highly recommend running the scan from the LaunchPad options as well.</p>

<p>It seems that the cleaning of the cache directories and/or the DirectX 9.0c reinstallation managed to resolve my trouble.</p><p>It was surely a file corruption therefore, the logs were warning about many missing files.</p><p>Whatever, thanks a lot for the help you provided.</p><p>Regards</p><p>Sargonnath,</p>
